First Families of Ashland County

First Families of Ashland County is a society of those whose ancestor was part of Ashland County prior to December 31, 1850. The cost is $10 and you receive a certificate and a pin. You have to prove that you decend from a settler in Ashland County prior to Dec 31, 1850. So, you need to provide a deed or tax list or something that proves the township of residence, and a will, birth record, Bible record, or similar artifact, that shows each step of descent to yourself. All these records are on file in the library collection. I believe we have close to 400 pioneer names with application papers, so it is becoming more and more of a resource of historical documentation for future genealogists.
