Eugène Delacroix:  Liberty Leading the People,1830

Eugène Delacroix painted Liberty Leading the People in 1830. An example of Romanticism, it was partially inspired by Théodore Géricault's Raft of the Medusa. The French government bought Delacroix's painting but almost immediately deemed it too inflammatory, and it was removed from public view until after the revolution of 1848.
