SHORT HISTORY

The Diocese of San Fernando, Pampanga was created on 11 December, 1948. Its first residential bishop was installed on 8 September, 1949. He is Most. Rev. Cesar Ma. Guerrero, DD. The second bishop of the diocese was Most Rev. Emilio Cinense, DD. It is during his term that the Diocese became an Archdiocese on 17 March, 1975. The third bishop of the diocese was Most Rev. Oscar V. Cruz, DD from 1978 to 1989. The incumbent bishop is Most Rev. Paciano B. Aniceto, DD who was installed on 14 March, 1989.

The Archdiocese comprises the civil province of Pampanga and Angeles City. These are its suffragans: Dioceses of Balanga, Iba, and Tarlac.
