ADVOCACY FOR BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION

(click to access)

1. www.geocities.com/biodiversityadvocates : This website is being developed to contain tools and links to other websites containing tools for ecological governance and biodiversity conservation. It is an instrument of the Biodiversity Advocacy and Capability Building Program of the UP Baguio for biodiversity advocacy and supporting LGUs in their capability building and training towards biodiversity conservation work and planning. The Program is one of the programs and research groups led by the UP Baguio Biodiversity Working Group. Target users of the websites are the public at large, academics, local government units, advocates, and local policy makers and interest groups.

2. www.geocities.com/philippinebiodiversity : This is a tool for educating the public at large on the status and importance of biodiversity conservation in the Philippines. The website is intended to have as many maps as possible and is very useful for local government units in identifying, locating, and mapping biodiversity conservation sites in their jurisdiction. Although, at the moment, many of the materials of the website come from the book, Philippine Biodiversity Conservation Priorities, which is a final report of the second iteration of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan, work is ongoing to cover several other materials as well.

3. www.geocities.com/biodiversityworkingroup : This website is an organizational website of the Biodiversity Working Group of the University of the Philippines-Baguio. The working group coordinates research groups of the University of the Philippines-Baguio and is one of the working group of the Cordillera Studies Center-UP Baguio.

Very soon, all three websites can also be accessed from www.upb.edu.ph or the University of the Philippines-Baguio website. Now is not yet the time to link the three websites to the UP Baguio website as work is still ongoing to make them more presentable and substantial.
