SIGNATURE: C. Eckardt. Christian Frederik Emil Eckart (1832-1914) is a listed artist. He studied at The Academy of Fine Arts and received Neuhausen's Price (1863, 1871), Scholarships from the Academy (1873-74) and Sodrings Price (1911-14). He traveled to Germany, Italy, France, England and lived in Sweden for several years. C. Eckart exhibited at Charlottenborg for many years and at Kunstnerforeningen af 18. november (The Artists' Society of 18th november). He was a marine painter and he especially liked the calm light of the early morning but also mastered the more dramatic storms.
