This oilpainting depicting an outdoor scene with a gentleman proposing to a lady with a dog on her lap is done on panel around 1860.
The painting is signed at the bottom right: E Nicolie by the Belgian painter

The condition of the painting is good and there has been a cleaning and varnishing.Ready to hang. Taking the painting out of the frame I discovered some loss of paint on the edges caused by framing and which get completely covered by the frame.
The artwork comes in an antique ornate frame which probably is the original one showing minor imperfections due to age with no missing pieces. The total looks well.
The size of the panel is 17.2 x 12.6 inches the size of the frame is 26.4 x 22.2 inches. |
