The gourds range in size from 3" in diameter to 10"  in diameter and were grown in either Ohio, California or here in Maryland.  All are thoroughly scoured inside and out to remove the mold and seeds however, none of these gourds can be used to hold liquids.  After drawing my design in pencil, usually a repeat pattern, I wood burn the drawing into the surface.  Next I apply at least two coats of leather dye; and finally a coat of finishing wax is applied to seal in the dyes.
