Olvera a beautiful white village or pueblo blanco, is just north of Ronda and surrounded by national park. It is about 1 hour and a half by car from Jerez, Seville and Malaga airports.
There has been a human settlement on the site of Olvera for at least twelve thousand years. Over the centuries the area has been controlled by Romans, Visigoths, and Berbers, known as Moors. Falling to the Christian Alfonso XI in 1327. It later passed into the hands of the dukes of Osuna. Its most famous son is probably Nicolás de Ribera, born here in 1487, and one of the leaders of Spain's conquest of Peru
