There was a great upsurge of creative
activity in the area in the 1920,s and 30’s further fuelled
by the arrival in the 1930’s of refugee artists fleeing European
fascism. We look at the modernist architecture dotted around the
area and also touch on the lives of the artists and writers of the
period: Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, Henry Moore, Herbert Read,
Aldous Huxley, George Orwell, D.H. Lawrence and others.
