Against postmodern anti science, or social science
What is social science and why is it not science?
Science has no universal definition, but it has general trends. The basis of it is context; each thing must be understood in context. Something must be reduced as far as is rational and compared. Science is (rationally) reductionistic and comparative. We need not go further than this into dicussions of testable hypotheses and what constitutes fact as the issue here is that he social sciences are rarely either. Social science is not science at all.
Postmodernism has less concensus of definition than science. In one context, that of attempting a different world view to those established, it actually prevents bias. But often it refers to denial of the objective which exists beyond the individual perception of the individual. This emphasis on the particular as opposed to its context is opposed to science, which is based on that the particular can only be understood when placed into context.
What is called social science is actually postmodernism rather than true (natural) science. This can be seen from the reactions of social scientists to genuine science. It is associated with the worldview of liberals which also is based on taking things out of context, although other political groups use the same tactic and find these studies convenient as in the conservative uproar over video nasties. However the liberals are largely responsible for popularising social science and play a part in its defence.
Why is social science not opposed?
Sceptics often have a vested interest in the study of liberalism and as such have allowed social science to get away with murder while concentrating on less powerful rightist nonsense, usually creationism which is still popular in parts of America where most sceptics are based. But more troubling than a few creationists is that the social sciences are tought in the universities and are called sciences, aided and abetted by he liberals like conservatives promote creationism.
The goal of this site is to launch an attack on social science as a whole to encourage their replacement in these areas of study by natural science, such as sociobiology. Genuine scientific investigation of such subjects is halted by those who have a political ideology they see as dependent on social science, and pponents of it are victimised as justifying sexim, racism, unfair discrimination and even genocide based on presumed motivation. There exists a need to defend genuine scientific study.
