About me
After spending most of my working life working as Flight Operations Co-ordinator
at Heathrow, I took early retirement to fulfil a life long ambition to go to
university to study for a Masters Degree in Writing for Children.
Following my graduation I published a book of poetry for children The Poem Pedlar
which has sold as far away as Australia & New Zealand.
I have a most successful website of poems & stories for children.
I have read some of my poems on the BBC, have won poetry competitions and have been voted
International Poet of the Year 2 years running. Recently I have been published in 2 anthologies of poetry in the USA & Canada.
Besides writing for children I have written a number of articles for magazines,
including travelogues & romantic stories which one publisher described as " a rival
to Barbara Cartland & better than Mills & Boon " ! One of my articles
came second in an international traveloque competition.
My hobbies and interests revolve around my beautiful new home in rural southern France where
I enjoy swimming, writing & painting. I have taken up painting for the pleasure &
relaxation it gives me, and particularly as I have an urge to translate my poetry for
adults into pictures. There are 2 such pictures in the gallery below.
I belong to a local art group of French & British amateur artists. I have exhibited
some of my work & to my surprise a French lady bought one of my pictures! To my
further surprise I came second in a painting in the street competition!
I would value receiving comments from members of the Artists Forum on my art work
and hope they will encourage me, either critical or acclaimed, to continue with this new adventure.
