30 June 2003

?     Mohd Jakir Hossen had been recommended to be awarded for a Master of Science degree. He had succesfully done the correction required by the examiner. Congratulation to Mohd Jakir.

?     Weekly meeting will be held as follows:

§         Time: 3.00 pm

§         Place: Seminar Room, ITMA

§         Osman Abdul Aziz will present his research work during this meeting. The scope of his presentation is Computer Security in Malaysia.

All group members are compulsary to attend. Others are welcome. The meeting which is scheduled on 4 July 2003 is postponed.

?     All students are encouraged to present their research in IEEE journal format and sent to me as you ready to submit to journal for publication. However, weekly report must be submitted to me as usual.

 

23 June 2003

• Meeting with the Vice Chancellor. All new postgraduate students are required to attend a meeting with the Vice Chancellor as follows:

Attendance is compulsory.

 

21 June 2003

¸    The technical visit to RTM on 25 June 2003 is not confirmed by the RTM. Wait for the latest announcement regarding this matter.

¸    I want to remind all students to submit weekly report to me via email. This report is important for me to know your research work progress. This report also should be copied to other supervisory committees.

 

13 June 2003

• All students in ISRL and MIS research groups are welcome to attend my lecture. I teach Digital Image Processing for postgraduate students. Timetable: Tuesday (4.00 – 6.00 pm) and Thursday (4.00 to 5.00 pm) at BTB008, Faculty of Engineering, UPM.
• The proposed technical visit to RTM is postponed to 25 June 2003. We should be at RTM at 9.30 am.

 

7 June 2003

?     Staff-students weekly meeting will be held on 13 June 2003 at 3.00 pm. The place of the meeting is at Seminar Room, ITMA. Attendance is compulsory to all ISRL and MIS students.

?     For those who do not register this semester, please do so by this week.

?     Effective this semester, MS and PhD program are offered by course and research only (structure B). Students are advised to discuss with me to register all courses. You are encouraged to register courses offered by the Department of Computer and Communication Systems Engineering.

?     Webster’s Encyclopedic Unabridged Dictionary of the English Language defines a “Conference” as a “meeting for consultation or discussion” or “the act of conferring or consulting together especially on an important or serious matter.”

 

5 June 2003

?     A meeting with industrial training students will be held on 6 June 2003 at 3.00 pm. The place of the meeting is at ITMA Training Room. Attendance is compulsory for industrial training students.

?     Weekly meeting scheduled on 6 June 2003 is postponed.

?     Amhamed Saffor had been awarded a PhD degree. Congratulation.

?     Mohammed Ahmed Al-Farsi had been awarded a MS degree. Congratulation.

 

22 May 2003

?     All students are required to register for May Semester now. If I am not in the office, please leave the form with Miss Linda at ITMA.

?     Weekly meeting is postponed this week (23 May 2003). But, all students are encouraged to communicate with me via email to report your research progress.

?     Laboratory of Intelligent Systems and Robotics with cooperation of IEEE Computer Society Malaysia Chapter had organized a Conference on Intelligent Systems and Robotics 2003 (CISAR2003) on 20-21 May 2003. This conference was held at Putrajaya Marriott Hotel, Putrajaya. Lew, Chui and Hanan had presented their technical paper in this conference.

 

18 May 2003

?     Beh Kok Siang had participated in ITEX2003 Exhibition at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, Petaling Jaya on 16-18 May 2003. Unfortunately he did not get any award except a certificate of participation from the organizer. However, we hope this event gave him a good exposure to present his research result to public.

?     Students (Structures A and B) wishing to graduate in November Semester 2002/2003 must submit their thesis by May 19, 2003.

?     Salah Ibrahim Sowan and Tarik Faraj Ali Idbea had completed their studies in Masters degree MS (Computer Systems Engineering).

?     Weekly meeting is postponed until 24^th May 2003.

?     Khairulnizam Kanan presented a technical talk on Network Sensor Systems at Seminar Room, ITMA.

?     Majdi Taysir Al-Qdah had passed the qualifying exam for PhD programme.

?     All students plan to submit their thesis in this semester, please discuss with me now. I am available at ITMA. You can submit the draft thesis by email or hardcopy.
