TRAVELS IN FIJI

 BACK TO TRAVEL

Fiji is a small island community situated in the south Pacific ocean, north of New Zealand and east of Australia. I visited the main island of Viti Levu in the summer of 1998, staying in a small town called Nadi (pronounced Nandi). Using Nadi as a base I took several trips to smaller desert islands off the coast, along with bus trips inland to both Lautoka and the capital city Suva.

The trips I took include a days stay on the tiny island of Beachcomber, and a two day stay on the slightly larger island of Mana. Both trips involved me in the local culture and let me experience a bit of true Fijian life. I participated in a Kava (or Yequona) drinking ceremony and played guitar with a traditional fijian band. It was amazing fun!
