Celebrity Scene II

Are the celebrities conscious about it?

When women's clothing styles began showing bare arms and legs in the 1920s, leg and underarm shaving followed soon after. In fact armpit shaving was not common until May of 1915 when Harper's Bazaar magazine featured a model in a sleeveless evening gown that showed her bare shoulders and hairless armpits.

With or without hair, armpits were associated with sexual appeal. Many dancing scenes do show grils revealing their armpits by holding the hands up. This indeed had an appeal. Models were shown in postures exposing their armpits to accentuate the sex-appeal. Many film stars too did the same.

Smooth Pits

With the exception of very few, almost all film stars and celebrities appeared in photos and public scenes with clean smooth armpits never exposing their hair. The taboo created in the 1920s against the armpits hair was always respected. But at leats one thing was clear: though not publicly, armpits were recognized as an object of erotic feeling, this 'private' acceptance was always there. No one dared to say anything about it public, for fear that others might 'catch' your 'dirty mind'. All pretended that nothing unusual was there in showing a female armpit while secretly enjoying the sight!

Modern Times - 2000

Now it appears that several celebrities are having a second bold look at armpits as a sexual object. Some have cleverly used this, to enhance their popularity of movies as well as songs. Pop stars like Madonna, Kylie Minogue belong to this category. Glamouros of all, Marilyn Monroe too has revealed her armpts lavishly and had caprivaited a secret audience!

In the 2005 yet again we see many actresses/models revealing their armpits lavishly (though clean shaven). This is enhanced by the fact that we are getting very high resolution closeup pictures with digital cameras, which would have been unavailable to the public in earlier times.

Why are models so unattractive?

Pictures of most of the models appearing are monotonous because they all are guided by the snobbish mentality of the fashion culture. Fashion culture have become stereotyped. The perfume industry is dictating what is good and what is bad for the people. Too much make-up and too much application of creams have a disastrous effect not only on the pictures but on the skin of the models too.

Here also closeups taken by digital cameras tell the whole story - unfortunately, a sad story. Facial skin, neckline etc look like the drawing from a kindergarten... 'paints' are so visible (something not detectable in the old paper photographs!)

Sports stars better

In contrast pictures of some of the sports stars are so stunning that they have become overnight celebrities. They have minimum make-up and one gets a natural feeling looking at them. Tennis, Beach Volleyball etc are clean examples.

Some Samples from Most Recent Times

It appears that there is a hidden acceptance among all (girls included) that showing /exposing armpits are sexy. Here are some pictures :
