Lyrics: Carl Anderson & Gloria Loring - Friends and Lovers

"What would you think if I told you
I've always wanted to hold you?
I don't know what we're afraid of
Nothing would change if we made love"

Kian watched Shane pace up and down the room, his heart stuck in his throat.

"Shane?" Kian was shocked at the sound of his own voice, and by the look of Shane as he spun around, he was too.

"Kian. I, I, I… don’t know what to say." Kian tried to figure out what Shane was feeling, but his face showed no emotion.

"Ok, I’m sorry Shane. I’m really sorry."

"Don’t be."

"Well, I know what you think. So, just don’t say it, ok? I might crash at Mark’s tonight." Kian made for the door but Shane grabbed his arm to stop him. Kian spun around.

"Wha-"

He was cut off by Shane’s kiss.

"So I'll be your friend
And I'll be your lover
'Cause I know in our hearts we agree
We don't have to be one or the other
Oh, no, we could be both to each other"

"Wow… erm… ok…" Kian stammered as the kiss ended.

"I…" Shane started, and had to look away for a while to collect his thoughts as he drowned in Kian’s eyes. He turned his gaze back to Kian. "I think I feel the same."

Kian was speechless. "Oh, eh, really?"

Shane nodded. "Yeah. Look, I’m a crap liar, and you know it. You know I’m not lying, right?"

Kian looked Shane deep in the eyes and nodded. "Yes."

"Good… I’m just… I’m scared Kian. You know what happened with Susan and all…"

"Yes it's a chance that we're taking
And somebody's heart may be breaking
Oooh, but we can't stop what's inside us
Our love for each other will guide us"

Kian reached out to touch Shane’s soft cheek. "Yeah… but Shane… I’d never do that to you. I promise, my heart and soul… I promise."

Shane smiled slightly. "I know… I’m still scared. This just… it’s not right, you know? I was always told that when I was little. The preacher-"

Kian put his finger on Shane’s lips and shook his head. "The priest doesn’t know you Shane! How would he know what’s right or wrong for you?!"

Shane shrugged. Kian kissed him.

"And, anyway, if being with you means I have to go to hell… then so be it!"

"So I'll be your friend
And I'll be your lover
'Cause I know in our hearts we agree
We don't have to be one or the other"

Shane laughed slightly. "Mmmm…"

Kian playfully nibbled his neck. "I mean that, you know. If I can have you then it’ll be like heaven on earth, so I’ve already have seen heaven… and, anyway – at least we’ll go to hell together!"

Shane smiled. "You’re sooo romantic Kian!"

Kian punched him playfully. "Who are you to speak?"

Shane laughed. "And you would know if I’m romantic?"

Kian shrugged. "Nah. Show me…?"

Shane pushed Kian towards the bed. "Sure."

"I've been through you
You've been through me
Sometimes a friend is the hardest to see
And we always know when it's laid on the line"

Shane kissed Kian as the fell on the bed. Kian moaned softly. "Hey, remember that you ordered ‘romantic’ and not ‘horny’…"

Kian wriggled a little as Shane’s husky voice in his ear sent shivers down his spine. "What if I changed my mind?"

"Sorry, that’s your problem."

"Spoilsport."

Shane just laughed before stealing another kiss.

"Nobody else is as easy to find

So I'll be your friend
(I'll be) And I'll be your lover
Cause I'll be your friend
(I'll be) And I'll be your lover"

Shane let go of Kian’s lips and proceeded to kiss his nose, his forehead, back to his nose before descending to his neck. "On second thoughts…"

A spasm jolted through Kian’s body as Shane’s lips caressed his neck. "Yes…" He sighed.

Shane let out a soft laugh. "I never said I did change my mind!"

Kian thrust his hips towards Shane. "You will."

"Oh, yeah? Or what?"

"Or you’ll be very, very sorry!"

Shane slipped his hands inside Kian’s shirt. "Fair enough. I have to warn you, Sir, people usually stay away from ‘horny’."

Kian almost screamed in frustration but managed to restrain it to a low growl. "Just stop talking and get on with it!"

Shane smiled and took pity on his friend and lover.

"'Cause I know in our hearts we agree
We don't have to be one or the other
Oh, no, we could be both to each other"
