Lyrics: Elton John - Blue Eyes (NOTE: She changed to he)

"Blue eyes, baby’s got blue eyes

Like a deep blue sea

On a blue, blue day"

As his deep blue eyes open again it feels like drowning in the ocean. They hold so much love, so much trust… and confirm that he enjoyed tonight.

"I love you…" His voice is still hoarse from love making, and my body tingles – I know those words are true.

"I love you too." For I do – don’t I?

"Blue eyes

Baby’s got blue eyes

When the morning comes

I’ll be far away

And I say"

His face is resting next to mine as I wake up. His eye lids are hiding those deep blue pools, and I know that now is the time. If I don’t leave now, I’ll never be able to.

I get dressed, and finding the letter I wrote for him, I leave it on my pillow. I hope he will understand. I think he will.

Blue eyes

Holding back the tears

Holding back the pain

Baby’s got blue eyes

And he’s alone again"

It’s a few weeks before I see him again. On TV this time. My heart falls to pieces in an instant.

Did I cause all that pain to fill those blue eyes, those eyes I know and love so much?

That’s when I know, I have to get back.

"Blue eyes

Baby’s got blue eyes

Like a clear blue sky

Watching over me"

The flight across the Irish Sea never seemed so long. I sit back looking out my window, and the clear blue outside remind me off him. Images that I have kept stored in my heart fill my mind.

Blue eyes

Ooh, I love blue eyes

When I’m by his side

Where I long to be

I will see"

The flight finally touch the ground, and I can’t get off it quick enough. Instinct tell me what hotel they are, he is, in and I catch a taxi with my close to empty suitcase, cursing the busy streets of mid-day London.

"Blue eyes

Laughing in the sun

Laughing in the rain

Baby’s got blue eyes

And I’m home

And I am home again"

I throw the driver far too much money – but who cares? – and fly in through the hotel door. With all those girls outside I am positive that I was right.

I am out of breath as I ask the receptionist what room he is in – glad that he still books in under the same name as when I left. I am told that he has gone outside. I know exactly where he is…

Yes, I find him by the pond in the park near the hotel – the place we first admitted our love. The sun is playing in his eyes, and I move closer slowly, almost afraid to ruin the picture before me.

He sees me as he looks up, the sun reflecting in his eyes. He stands and runs over to me.

"You’re back!" He is in my arms.

"Of course, I love you."

He smiles, as a light summer rain starts to fall.

A naughty shimmer come into his eyes. "Let’s go inside…"

I nod and follow him. How did I ever think I’d be able to live without those blue eyes?

"Blue eyes

Laughing in the sun

Laughing in the rain

Baby’s got blue eyes

And I am home again"
