I guess if you read this letter I chickened out and never dared to tell you face to face. I wanted to, believe me. You’re probably laughing now, the mere thought of me writing a letter. A love letter, even. Yes, I love you… Before you go mad, just let me explain, ok?

You see, I’ve had those feelings for a while now. For years in fact. Since we were young and you and Graham would help me get away from the bullies. I know you were just being friendly, but I soon realised I wished for it to be more than that. You know how I would keep running away from love? Well, you are the first person I’ve ever trusted. The first I’ve fallen in love with. The only I have fallen in love with, in fact. I’m sorry for throwing it at you like this, but I had to tell you. I couldn’t move on before I had even tried…Please understand.

Shane put the letter back in the envelope as he heard Kian at the door. He put it away, but Kian noticed. He said noting, just smiled and walked over to sit on the armrest of the chair Shane was occupying.

"That letter ought to be burnt…" he said finally.

Shane shook his head as he pulled Kian into his lap, "No, it doesn’t. It doesn’t cause it’s symbolic, marking the start of our relationship." He gave Kian a soft kiss.

"It’s soppy Shane, you are soppy!"

Shane pulled him a little closer. "Yep, but you gotta admit, you love me for it, don’t you?"

"Mmmm…" was all Kian could say as their lips met again.

As usual, they ended up cuddled together under the covers of one of the beds.

Shane could well remember reading that letter. And he remembered the outcome. Walking over to Kian’s room after the first shock wave had passed. He’d knocked on the door, and as Kian opened it he had, without hesitation, taken Kian into his arms and given him a soft kiss.

It was all that was needed for Kian to know that his feelings were mirrored by Shane’s. They’d been inseparable since then. Not that they hadn’t been before, as friends, but now that bond was stronger. Two hearts beating at the same wavelength. Two souls that had found their home and were filled with love…

Shane’s thoughts were rudely interrupted by Kian’s hand on his chest. He smiled at him and Kian smiled back. Remembering how scared he had been before. Scared of love, scared of giving his heart. With Shane he wasn’t scared of anything. He trusted him fully, which also meant that he loved him fully.

Their first night together had been so sweet. Never before had Kian experienced a lovers touch that was so soft, so gentle, so loving. So filled with love. It had been more than sex. They’d been making love. Something Kian had dreamt about for so long.

Kian’s touch lingered on Shane’s skin. It was gentle, but not hesitant. It didn’t wait for invitation; after all, Kian knew what Shane wanted. And needed. How long had it been since they’d last done this? Too long. Shane reached out to touch Kian’s face, awakening a soft smile on Kian’s lips. They both loved nights like this. Where the love flowed freely between them. No rush. Just that gentle relaxed atmosphere. No words needed, they both knew what the other felt. Maybe because they both felt the same thing.

Shane gently placed his hand on the back of Kian’s head and pulled him closer. Kian’s head rested on Shane’s chest, Shane’s heartbeat filling his ears. The heart that was beating just for him right now.

That gentle heart beat was a reminder of their first night together. When this had first started. Kian could hardly believe everything he’d found himself doing that night. He’d actually never been with another man before. Shane must have guessed, subtle guiding had made Kian feel safe.

Lonely nights were over and done with now. They were almost always together anyway, even when they were home they didn't live too far from each other, so they always had each other at hand. They probably always would too. Love can last forever. Providing it’s with the right person. Kian didn’t have any doubts. Shane must be that one person; otherwise he wouldn’t be feeling like this.

Shane’s hand ruffled Kian’s hair. Kian had a sudden urge. "I love you…" he whispered softly.

Shane smiled; he’d been dying to hear Kian say those words. "Love you too Ki."

Kian moved back a little and looked at Shane. "Forever?"

Shane nodded, "Forever. I’ll never leave you babe, never hurt you." Kian smiled, satisfied, and moved forward to kiss Shane.

Kian broke this kiss again, looking at Shane. "What if people found out?"

Shane took Kian’s hand. "We’d still have each other, wouldn’t we?"

"Mmmm… would they accept us though?"

Shane shrugged. "They’d have too, ‘cause I wouldn’t wanna throw everything away to please other people." Kian smiled slightly, his eyes revealing that he was still thinking.

Shane smiled at him. "Stop worrying and kiss me again…" Kian smiled, not needing anymore encouragement than that.
