Chapter 2

"It’s a dream

With a nightmare stuck in the middle

But where would you be

Without all of that attention

You’d die

I’d die

We’d die wouldn’t we"

Kian saw Shane fall and instinctively excused himself to rush over. He elbowed his way through the crowd of people that were standing around and scuffed whoever it was that had sat down beside Shane out of the way.

"Want me to get someone? A doctor?" The young man looked at Kian nervously.

"No thank you. We’ll be ok. I’ll get someone later if he needs it." Kian managed to sound polite despite the rising panic as he kneeled beside Shane.

"Shane?" He tried softly. "Shane, can you hear me? Shane, please just… Shane, come on." He felt desperate as there was no response. "Shane?"

"Ummm…" Shane’s eyes slowly opened and he blinked a few time’s before things came into focus. "Wh- what happened?"

"You passed out for a bit." Kian looked up at the mass of people around them. "Can you give us some space, please?" People backed off.

Someone offered Shane a glass of water and Kian helped him sit up as he drank it. Shane was trembling as he gave the empty glass to Kian.

"Shane, do you want to go back to the hotel? I’ll come with you back…"

"Kian, are you sure…? I mean, I don’t wanna ruin your party. I can make my own way back."

Kian shook his head. "No, what if something happens? I would never forgive myself Shay."

"Ok," Shane agreed as Kian helped him up.

"You go sit over there Shane and I’ll just go find someone and tell them we’re going."

---

A while later Shane and Kian were back in their hotel room. Shane felt glad he was sharing with Kian. He wouldn’t have wanted to have shared with anyone else right now, because Kian knew him well enough not to fuss and to make Shane feel at ease.

Kian emerged from the bathroom to find Shane staring into space. He sat down beside him. "Shane, are you all right? Is it something you want to talk about?"

Shane shrugged with a little sigh. "I don’t know Kian… It’s just… I’ve been feeling all strange lately. I don’t know what’s wrong, I suppose I’m just stressed."

Kian nodded. "What happened…?"

Shane looked at Kian. "The room just started spinning Ki. I don’t know, it suddenly just felt like everything was closing in on me." He shrugged. "Maybe I’m just going crazy."

Kian embraced him. "Of course you’re not going crazy Shane. But if it happens again promise me you’ll go see a doctor, yeah?"

Shane nodded slowly. "Ok." He hoped Kian was right. He certainly felt like he was going crazy, that was for sure!
