Chapter 7

Shane hummed to himself as he walked along the hotel corridor. It was just over a week since Cliodhna’s visit, and things seemed to go well. He spoke to Nicky every night, learning things about each other, and practicing that brick wall thing. In fact, he found himself starting to like Nicky as a person.

He put the key in the lock and went into the room. "Nicky, are you here?" The room was empty and strangely cold… grey… shadowy.

"No, Nicky is not here." Kian emerged from the shadows. Shane backed to get out but the door slammed behind him, the key turning in the hole. He gulped; Kian’s mind was a lot stronger than he’d ever imagined.

Kian took a few steps forward. His eyes looked wilder than they had ever done, even during their most heated rows.

"Kian… please, just…"

"Hush, Shane. The time has come. This time there’s no escape."

Shane was trying to hunt for more time as he automatically started to build a brick wall. "Wh… Where’s Nicky."

Kian smirked.

"Kian, please… don’t hurt him. Don’t hurt him."

Kian laughed, an eerie sounding laugh that was far from the lovely sound Shane was used to. "He isn’t hurt Shane. He’s just… working on his lift phobia."

"No, Kian… you didn’t…" Shane couldn’t believe anyone or anything could be that cruel.

"Yes, I did. And you’re on your own. I have been waiting for this moment."

Shane backed against the door as Kian moved closer. He was panicking. He needed Nicky. He needed… someone. Anyone. He wouldn’t be able to fight Kian by himself.

Kian was painfully close now. His nose almost touched Shane’s. "Why are you fighting, Shane? You can’t win… no one can help you."

Shane whimpered as Kian’s hand closed around his wrist, so harshly. "Kian, please… please don’t."

Kian’s face was expressionless; his wild eyes focused on Shane’s. Shane knew he was fighting a losing battle and prayed that he could somehow get help.

Kian was getting furious. Shane was doing a good job with the brick wall, and he knew he was losing time. Sooner or later Nicky would get out of that lift. He’d have to make Shane lose his focus. But how? Ah, now, he knew exactly how.

Shane didn’t have time to react before Kian’s lips crushed against his own. A dull pain started to rise in his head and he felt desperation surging through him as he was trapped between the door and Kian’s body. He used to enjoy that, but Kian didn’t even feel or taste the same.

Kian took a step back and pushed Shane to the side, letting him fall to the floor. "Nobody can help you now Shane, I’ve got you. I have you and you will be mine until Master needs you." Then he laughed the most evil laugh Shane had ever heard.

The pain was slowly going from dull to really painful to unbearable. Kian was mumbling something that Shane didn’t understand because it wasn’t in English, but even if it had been he probably wouldn’t have understood it because the pain was blocking out all his senses.

Kian kneeled down beside him. "Stop fighting my little warrior. You’re almost there now anyway, I’ve almost got you where I want you. The point where you will give yourself to me out of your own free will. You should save your strength until then, until we’re back at my place because you will need it then."

Shane bit his teeth together and continued the battle. He didn’t want to give up. He just hoped Nicky or someone would come and help him before it was too late.
