"Sometimes
Lonely nights turn into sunny days
I never thought I'd feel this way, I never knew
That you and I were meant to be in love"

"I’m back!!!" Shane shouted as he dropped the bags onto the hotel room floor. Kian emerged from the bath room.

"My, looks like you and Nix had a good time?"

Shane grinned, "Sure did. You should have been there."

Kian walked over and gave him a kiss. "Absence makes the heart grow fonder…" he said, half to himself, his eyes revealing he was fading away into his own little world for a bit.

He came back to now, "So, anyway, what did you get?"

"Oh," Shane dived into one of the bags, "Something for you actually." He produced a small present and handed it to Kian.

Kian smiled broadly as he accepted it, he loved getting presents. Shane sat down on the bed and watched him unwrap it, hoping he’d like it. Inside was a little box, and opening it Kian found a ring that he’d been longing for the previous day. Inside it had the inscription "Shane & Kian – Friends in Love".

He looked up at Shane. "Oh, thank you!" He jumped into Shane’s lap and gave him a big hug.

Shane laughed and hugged him back. "You like it?"

"Of course, I love it!"

"Good, I bought myself one too actually…" he held out his hand and revealed a matching ring. Kian took his hand and their rings were just beside each other. Both their gazes fell on the rings.

"Oh darlin'
You've always been around to see me through
How was I to know you'd make my dreams come true
Time and time again we fall, always on our own"

Kian’s mind wandered. To the time before he met Shane. Well, before they faced up to their love, at least. When he almost didn’t believe love actually existed. He hadn’t realised just why he failed to fall in love with any of the girls he went out with. Until the faithful day it had all come crashing into place. He loved Shane.

Shane. The one person he could really trust. The one person that knew more about him than his own mother, almost anyway. The one person who was always there, unconditionally. The one person he could rely on. The one person he loved, had ever loved. He was like some kind of knight in shining armour. A dream come true.

"But now we're friends in love
Hoping that we'll always still be friends in love
Strong when we're together, darlin'
Now we've got forever and a day
Don't you go away"

"It’s almost like we’re engaged now…" Kian said suddenly.

Shane looked at him and smiled. "Would you… marry me?"

Kian looked up. "Marry you?"

Shane nodded, and looked serious enough for Kian to be convinced he wasn’t joking.

"Yes…" Kian whispered, his throat clogging with emotion. "Of course I would…"

Shane kissed him and held him tight as he cried. Of happiness.

"Remember
Every time you cried you came to me
Oh, much to my surprise I found someone who could see
Through the nights of loneliness
You were always there for me"

Shane smiled to himself. Kian was crying of happiness. He loved making him happy. The first time they ever met Kian had been crying, but not of happiness. Shane had come to the rescue as he had been getting a rather hard time by the bullies. A shoulder to cry on.

He’d known it then, on the sleepover nights when they lay in each other’s arms for comfort. He loved him. And Kian must feel something back. After all, Kian knew he was gay. How many straight men would willingly share a bed with a gay man?

Kian’s sobs were subsiding. Shane started to sing, softly. Their special song.

"We're friends in love
Hoping that we'll always still be friends in love
Strong when we're together, darlin'
Now we've got forever and a day
Don't you go away"

"I won’t go away…" Kian whispered and kissed him. "Never, ever." Conviction was clear in his voice.

"Good," Shane said. "Cause I love you."

"I love you too." Kian smiled, "We’re friends in love…"

Shane smiled back. "Definitely." They held each other a while longer.

"Would you marry me tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow?" Kian looked questioning.

"Afternoon off in Las Vegas tomorrow…" Shane hinted.

"But… we won’t have…"

"Family and friends? Hey, we’ll have a massive party when we go home to compensate. How about that?"

"Sounds great."

"Deal?"

"Deal."

"You turned around, you looked my way
I can't say that it hasn't crossed my mind
I've loved you all along
Oh, and now we're leaving yesterday behind
We'll never be alone"

Both Kian and Shane were mysteriously hyper the following morning. They told the other 3 lads their plans at lunch and they all agreed to attend the ceremony, visibly happy for the pair. The rest of the world would get to know the following day, in order to keep any noisy reporters away from the ceremony. The world already knew about and mostly accepted them loving each other, but a typical posh showbiz marriage had never appealed to any of them.

Kian’s stomach was doing a crazy work-out by the end of the day. Aerobics every time he even looked at Shane. God, he loved him so much. Always had, always would.

"Oh, friends in love
Hoping that we'll always still be friends in love
Strong when we're together, darlin'
Now we've got forever and a day
Don't you go away"

The minister smiled as the ceremony ended. "You may kiss each other." Shane’s arms slipped around Kian’s body and he kissed him gently. Kian pulled him a bit closer to deepen the kiss.

The other lads all cheered and clapped. Kian and Shane thrived in the attention from their friends as they all said their congratulations and a load of hugs were exchanged.

They left the hall hand in hand. A lone photographer, probably paparazzi, did a bad job in hiding. Shane turned around to kiss Kian.

"Let’s give him a good shot!"

Kian laughed but didn’t stop the kiss. "What will the world think?"

Shane hugged him and shrugged. "You know what, I don’t give a damn Ki, let them think what they want! I love you…"

Kian smiled and gave him a last kiss before they had to pile into the car and get back to the hotel, "I love you too…"

"You and I are friends in love
Hoping that we'll always still be friends in love
Strong when we're together, darlin'
Now we've got forever and a day
Don't you go away"
