Arion is now the bassist for Third Eye Blind. He does vocals, plays various instruments and arranges on both albums. On 3EB's second release BLUE he co-produced the album with frontman Stephan Jenkins. Arion is known to play bass guitar, electric guitar, piano, harmonica, theremin, prophet t8, optigan, electric sitar, melletron, and univox just to name a few.  Arion has played on many other albums including Black Lab (Keep Myself Awake ~ Buffy The Vampire Slayer Sndtrk), Better Than Ezra (Normal Town ~An American Werewolf In Paris Sndtrk), Kenny Wayne Shepard Band (Electric Lullaby ~ Live ON), Orgy (Sticthes remix), Stevie Salas (A Lullaby Of Wishes ~ Shapeshifter - The Fall And Rise Of Stevie No Wonder) and The Braids (The Wind). Arion uses ZON Bass guitars. The silver glitter bass is a Sonus 4 string with E String Duetner custom finish and headstock detail.Arions newest bass is called "The El Toro". It's a custom made 4 string bass with fingerborad led's, AA blueburst finish, and a headstock decal. His straps are custom made by Built By Wendy. One f.a.q. about Arion is "What is he?" On August 9, 1970 Arion Gabriel Salazar (PRONOUNCED UH-RYAN) was born in Oakland CA. He is an only child and was exsposed to music at an early age, his father played in a band when he was younger and he was encouraged to play music. Arion started out playing guitar, he switched to bass and taught himself by listening to a Rush album and became serious about playing by junior high.
He went to Skyline High School (he was supposed to attend Oakland high, his parents snuck him into Skyline) where he says he was a "horrible student". After attending Skyline he went to the Bluebear School of Music at Ft. Mason in San Francisco (1988). He attended Blue Bear for a year on a music scholarship.
Arions first professional gig was with a band called Risk. From there went on to play in a band called Fungo Mungo (1988-1992), they released an album on Island records in 1992 called Humongous. While Arion was in Fungo Mungo he also played with the bands Curveball and Acme Pimps Inc. He joined 3EB in 1993.
Arion also played in a session's band called Bullmark. While in Bullmark Arion composed the soundtrack for Activissions Interstate 76 in which vintage recording equiptment and instruments were used to capture the original 70's funk sound. Members of Bullmark included Brian (of Primus), Tom Coaster (from Santana), Jon Bendich, Louis Fasman, Les Harris, and Dave Schul (Les and Dave both play in Curveball).
