Meena Cabinet in Primary Schools

In primary schools 2-3 students from classes 3rd, 4th, and 5th are enrolled in what are called the Meena Cabinets. These relatively younger cabinet members maintain and monitor attendance charts for each class, and visit the households of children who are absent from school for more than two days. Stories are used in the classroom with well-defined activities around each story.

Use of the Meena stories in the classroom is encouraged.

In addition, the stories are used in many innovative ways in school – Morning Assembly, Parent Teacher Meetings, and observance of special days. Meena Natak Mandlis comprising school children use these stories for drama in the school and community. Grandmothers’ Day is loved alike by children and their grandmothers. These forums are used to create awareness on various issues at various levels.
