I lie here, you lie besides me
You shouldn’t be here...
I vanquished you long ago
The wind etching itself into my window-
It’s the only memory of your betraying soul
I’ve wandered here and there
You followed despite my words
Banished and so far gone-
I set you loose, but you are insistent to return
I lie here chained and writhing
You lie tranquil besides me
Eyes half open, staring intently
But you don’t move, don’t reach out
Inwardly- smiles light the darkened corridor
You’ve run beyond the doubt
I’ve wandered here and there
So few are offered my words
The footprints cake with blood
And so I’ve learned the betrayer’s worth
