Searching
8.03.03
She was burnt by love
In a day long ago
And now she’s trapped in a world
And a day that’s not her own
Clinging silently
To the darkness of the night
For some reason she’s comforted
By the glowing of the twilight
But she can’t find anyone or anything
To fill the emptiness inside
So she slowly closes her eyes
And lets her soul bleed and cry
But she’s searching, searching, searching
For what she once knew, but forgot
Clutching at a wind that she once owned
But then lost
Hearing voices in the nighttime
Alone and half-way gone
She plays it over in her head
And wonders what’s taking them so long
She prays that she’ll be found
By the memories she dropped on some far-out shore
But when she traces the footsteps
They’re not there anymore
So, what’s someone to do
Lost in an undefeatable blue
The only bridge destroyed
By what tortured her long ago
But she keeps on searching, searching, searching
For what she once knew, but forgot
Clutching at a sea that she once owned
But then lost
And don’t tell me you haven’t heard of dreams
That take you over and bring you to the end
You can’t tell me you haven’t fallen off the edge of a dream
Into yourself and found that you had become-
What you never meant to be
But she’s still searching
Searching more and more
And if she digs harder
Will she find what she’s looking for?
Cause her hands are bleeding and calloused
Ripping through a cloth much too strong
And the rythym of his heartbeart
Is beating right along
So close and so far
But he’s not here at all
But she’ll find them, she’ll find them all
Her memories recorded in some backwards flight of the mind
Cause she won’t stop searching, searching, searching
For what she once knew, but forgot
Clutching at a life she once owned
But- all lives are eventually lost
