Angel goes to his home in L.A. a huge apartment-like building. He uses the lower level for his quarters. When he arrives home he finds a demon with an Irish accent. The demon's name is Doyle and he replays the story of Angel's life for him. Doyle goes on to explain he comes from the "powers that be" who want Angel to interact with the people he saves. Doyle is there to give Angel a name and location of the next person he is supposed to save, this time its a girl named Tina.
Angel goes to the coffee shop Tina works at and introduces himself. After a misunderstanding in the parking lot where she accuses him of working for someone named Russell, he gives her a ride to a party. At the party, while Tina goes to find someone, Angel meets Cordelia who is an actress now and her usual shallow self. They do a little small talk but soon Cordy has to leave him to talk to people who are "important". Tina comes back but not before she has a run in with a guy named Stacy. Angel and Tina leave the party but are followed by Stacy and some thugs to the parking garage. The thugs try to kidnap Tina but Angel beats them all up. Angel takes Tina back to his place to rest. Then, Angels goes to the library to do some research on what he knows about Russell and a friend of Tina's, Denise, who disappeared. Angel gets back when Tina wakes up. She sees the piece of paper Doyle gave Angel on her whereabouts and believes Angel is working for this Russell guy. She bolts and since it is day, Angel can't stop her.
Tina goes to her apartment where Russell (a man in a business suit) is waiting for her. He comforts her and tells her he will give her anything she wants. Tina wants to go home and Russell says its done. Then Russell turns into a vampire and sucks Tina's blood.
Angel feels guilty about Tina's death. He pours over phone books with Doyle to find a lead on the Stacy guy that attacked them the other night. Stacy owns a gym and Angel (in macho man mode) breaks the street window and beats Stacy into answers.
Meanwhile, Cordelia is sitting around in her apartment, starving and waiting for an acting job. When the girl who hosted the party Cordy was at the other night (Margo) tells her Mr. Russell Winters wants to see her, Cordy is excited at the fact she may have a big break. In reality Margo was filming the party the other night and sent the tape to Russell to look for possible vitums. Russell is a client of a law firm called Wolfman & Hart that protects him from the police, government agencies, and makes sure that the murders of young girls aren't pinned on him. Russell saw Cordelia in Margo's video and decided she would make a good snack.
Cordelia is picked up in a limo that night and brought to Russell's home that resembles a fortress. Angel breaks into Russell's house and rescues Cordelia, just as she finds out she was on the menu. Doyle drives the getaway car.
The next day Russell is sitting in his skyscraper with his lawyers when Angel busts in. Angel kills Russell by pushing him out a window, Russell turned to dust before his chair hits the ground. When Angel walks out one of Russell's lawyers places a call to Wolfman & Hart and tells them to call a meeting because they have "another player in town".
Back at Angel's headquarters, Cordelia is cleaning for him and after being brought up to speed by Doyle has decided they all need to go in the "business" of helping people. That way Cordelia has a paying job and Angel can atone for the sins of his past.
