THE BEST of THE BEST

1. Jose Chung's "From Outer Space"- Writer: Darin Morgan, Director: Rob Bowman

ALL HAIL the funniest and most thought provoking ep, not only in the series itself but in television alltogether! An extremely well written episode which is still interesting every time you watch it.

2. Triangle - Writer: Chris Carter, Director: Chris Carter

Wow. You certainly don't see this everyday. This is the most technically brilliant piece of television I've seen. It has some absolutely classic scenes and, well, I just can't describe what I felt when I watched this ep. For me it defines cool.

3. The Red and the Black - Writers:  Frank Spotnitz, Chris Carter, Director: Chris Carter

A VERY important episode for the X Files, marking a new chapter in the mythology story arc. Brilliantely written scenes and answers to the questions asked before are now being given without being totally revealing. Everyone is excellent here in this thouraghly engrossing ep.

4. Tunguska- Writers: Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz, Director: Kim Manners

This is a superb X Files thriller as we follow Mulder venturing into Russia and discovering a deadly alien biological weapon. It also contains the reappearance of Alex Krycek (one of the most interesting and evil characters on the X Files!)

5. Anasazi- Writer: Chris Carter, Director: R.W. Goodwin

The beginning of an excellent trilogy which brought to light the human experiments with alien DNA, know as the " merchandise". This is a very intriguing episode and the best cliffhanger to be shown on the X Files yet.

6. Duane Barry- Writer: Chris Carter, Director: Chris Carter

A brilliant drama episode and a gripping hostage scenario. A great pre-title sequence and an even more impressive ending contributes in making this another classic X Files episode.

7. Post Modern Prometheus- Writer: Chris Carter, Director: Chris Carter

A really well made ep taking the micky out of those old horror movies. The choice about being black and white was definetely a winner. Everything here was just so perfect! The humour is spot on and the ending was extra special. This is one of my most enjoyable episodes in the series. Its great fun!

8. Momento Mori- Writers: Chris Carter, Vince Gilligan, John Shiban and Frank Spotnitz, Director: Rob Bowman

An emotional episode that deals really well with Scully's cancer, Gillian Anderson is perfection in quite possibly her best episode for the series.

9. Christmas Carol- Writers: Vince Gilligan, John Shiban, Frank Spotnitz, Director: Peter Markle

Again Anderson shines on in this really brilliant ep., infact all the Scully family is equally superb as we join them in celebrating Christmas. This episode not only contains a very emotional atmosphere but a very interesting murder mystery and a stunning revelation at the end.

10. Grotesque - Writer: Howard Gordon, Director: Kim Manners

A magnificent episode which goes into eerie and terrifying psychological depths. This is one exploration into madness and darkness that you don't forget.

11. Paper Clip- Writer: Chris Carter, Director: Rob Bowman

One of the more intelligent conspiracy episodes which shows the discovery of the small pox innoculations and is a more than satisfying conclusion to the trilogy.

12. Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose- Writer: Darin Morgan, Director: David Nutter

Another clever episode by the genius himself, Darin Morgan. Very clever and well acted. Peter Boyle is perfect for the part of Clyde Bruckman. This deserved all the awards it got at the Emmys.

13. All Souls- Writers:  Frank Spotnitz and John Shiban, Director: Rob Bowman

A truly beautiful episode which is deeply touching and very spooky all at the same time. The lighting here is the best I've seen for this show and the scene when Scully sees Emily on the autopsy table is the best scene for the season so far. This ep. gives the X Files a whole new level, this is drama at its best.

14. Redux 2- Writer: Chris Carter, Director: Kim Manners

The acting here is what made this episode what it is. Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny were both equally brilliant. The plot points here are also major ones for the series and it gets even better as it goes on.

15. Beyond the Sea- Writer: Glen Morgan, James Wong, Director: David Nutter

A remarkable episode which tests Scully's faith in Science. Brad Dourif's Bloggs is surely the performance of the season.

16. Unusual Suspects- Writer: Vince Gilligan, Director: Kim Manners

Another fantastic episode by Vince Gilligan, who is fast becoming one of the best writers for the series. The Lone Gunman's attitude about conspiracies here is hilarious as is Mulder's. This ep encouraged the Believe the Lie theory. It also left questions but never too many or too complicated. Just the way I like it.

17. Erlenmeyer Flask- Writer: Chris Carter, Director: R.W. Goodwin

A fine, tense episode. The shocking execution of Deep Throat makes this ep one not to forget.

18. E.B.E- Writers: Glen Morgan, James Wong, Director: William Graham

A great script which gives the viewer a marvellous atmosphere of doubt, influencing us not to trust anyone. Some questions which keep the viewer thinking and always interested, the twists and turns also help out in this area.

19. Fight the Future- Writer: Chris Carter, Director: Rob Bowman

A exhilirating X Files experience as the show hits the big screen. This is entertainment at its best.

20. One Breath- Writers: Glen Morgan, James Wong, Director: R.W. Goodwin

There are many great scenes here, including the confrontation between Mulder and CSM and the scenes with X. It's great to see Scully back here.
