What is The Max and Liz Project?

The Max and Liz Project is a huge site of various things dealing with the wonderful characters of Max Evans and Liz Parker from Melinda Metz's series, Roswell High, and the new hit WB show, "Roswell," Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. central (after "Dawson's Creek").

This site has a rather large fanfiction archive, that seems to get a bit bigger with each passing week; it also has poems and song archives that I believe are fitting for the characters. There is a photo-quotes gallery, fanfic awards section, Liz's Journal (actual journal entries from each episode), a fanfic challenge section, and a guest book. This site has been updated on a very regular basis since it opened on January 4, 2000.

Why did I make this site?

I started watching "Roswell" since the first episode aired. I've always been a big fan of "The X-Files," and "Sliders," and off-beat, sci-fi stuff. So my mom literally pulled me away from the beginning of an episode of a series I had been watching for a few weeks on Fox called "Get Real." She told me that I just had to watch this new show with her and my dad. So I did.

I liked "Get Real." Really, I did. But after watching the pilot episode of "Roswell" and then seeing the previews for the next week's episode, I've never returned to watching "Get Real."

I liked "Roswell" from the beginning. I liked Max Evans (played by the very talented Jason Behr) and Liz Parker (played by the equally talented Shiri Appleby). So I kept watching. It was an equal mix of suspense, sci-fi, romance, humor...I liked it, but I didn't love it.

Then I saw the fourth episode, "Leaving Normal." The beginning, where Max is beaten up by friends of Liz's boyfriend Kyle, brought tears to my eyes. I don't cry easily. By the end of the episode, when Liz's grandmother dies...the combination of Max/Liz, the plot itself, and the music played behind the final scene, "I Love You," by Sarah McLachlan--made me not just cry, but cry hard. And when the episode was over and I grabbed some tissues (which my dad thought was hilarious, by the way), I turned to my mom and said, "Well. I think I just found my new favorite show."

Indeed.

This site is dedicated to my best friend Sarah, without whom this Project would never have been possible, because she sat with me day after day, hour after hour, patiently explaining how to build a web site, since I had never done it before. Thanks, Sarah! <VBG> I also thank everyone who has contributed their fanfic to this site, or suggested songs or poems or anything else, and to those who have written and given me feedback on my own stories and the site itself. It's always appreciated! :)

Hince, we now have my site, The Max and Liz Project. Please, sign my guestbook, or drop me an email and let me know what you think of my site...oh, and, come back again soon. There's new stuff going up all the time, and you just never know what you might find... :)
