Betcha She Don't Love You
Scene: West Roswell High School
Liz was at her locker getting ready for morning classes. Today's
going to be a good day, thought Liz. Liz was always trying
to make her day at school good, but now that Max Evans had broken
up with her and was now going out with Tess, she somehow had lost
that thought. Max had taken something from her that most people
liked about her.
Happiness. Happiness was the one thing in the world for Liz
that could keep her going through the day. As she finished
getting her books, she ran into Maria, who looked like a normal
girl. Ever since Maria had gotten over Michael, she had a new
found respect for herself. She was wearing a light blue tank-top,
khaki pants and brown sandals.
"So, how are you doing this morning?" asked Maria, who
had a half smile on her face.
"Okay, I guess. As long as I don't run into Tess for the day I should be fine," said Liz.
"Well, if you need me, don't hesitate to ask, alright kiddo?"
says Maria, who was trying not to be late for her first class,
which left Liz walking to her class.
When the first period bell rang, Liz felt relief. So far she was
doing ok, but when biology comes, how was she suspose to handle
it? Just relax Liz, show him that you accept things the way
that they are. I mean, its not like he's going to rub it in your
face, thought Liz.
As she made her way through the crowd, she didn't notice that Max
was watching her, as he, too was trying to get to his next class.
God she looks beautiful today, thought Max. Liz was
wearing a red tank-top, with a white skirt, and wore brown
sandals today. When Tess came up behind him, he jumped and turned
around to see who it was; but when he turned back around Liz was
already gone.
"So, why don't you say we go into the eraser room and heat things up a little bit?" asked Tess, who was wearing a pink sweater and white jeans, along with white sandals.
"Tess, can I get back to you on that? I really need to get to class, and so do you. We can talk after school okay, bye," said Max, while trying not to be tardy.
During English, Max was writing a note to Liz. A Valentine's note you would say. He thought about what he would say, but his partner kept on asking him stupid questions on the assignment. When class was over with, Max quicky got up from his seat and headed for the hallway. He made a stop at his locker, put his books away, and got out his gym uniform. On his way to the gym, he ran into the one person who could have ruined his entire life, Kyle Valenti.
The last time he was around Kyle, was when Liz went on a blind
date. Kyle had gotten him drunk, and he remembered Liz telling
him that he said some things to her that he probably didn't mean
to say at the time. What he remembered most about that night were
the images of Liz and him.
"Hey Max. How's it going?" asked Kyle, who looked like
himself again.
When Max didn't answer right away, Kyle knew that he must still be mad at him.
"I'm sorry Kyle, what did you say?" said Max who was trying get away from him, but that didn't work.
"Okay Max, look, I think that I owe you an apology for what happened 3 weeks ago. I'm really sorry about getting you in trouble with Liz. So, if you want, I promise not to get you into any more trouble." With that Kyle was gone, which left Max late for gym. As Max entered the gym he was caught by suprised. Suddenly all of students were gathering around him, asking him questions.
"So Max, how was it like?" asked a student.
"How was it like to what?" asked Max, who didn't know what everyone was talking about, but he had a feeling that he was going to be finding out soon.
"Come on, Max, tell us the truth. Did you really sleep with Liz Parker?" asked a student.
Max was just staring at the people all around him, with his mouth wide open in shock. Finally, after a few minutes, Max finally spoke. "Who told you that I slept with Liz?" asked Max.
"Well, it's all over the school now and if I were you I would go and straighten things out with Liz, because if she did get a hold of this, she's right away going to be blaming you for this mess," said a student.
With that, Max walked out of gym and started looking for Liz.
After Liz was done talking with her friends, she was immediatly mad. Who would say something like that about me? What have I ever done? And why, out of all people in school, would people pick Max? God, if I ever find the person responsible for this rumor, I'm going to give them a piece of my mind.
As she finished her thoughts, Max had finally spotted her and ran over to her. "Liz, can we go somewhere and talk?" asked Max.
"Yeah, just give me a second to put my books away,"
said Liz. When she finished, Max took her
arm and led her into the eraser room. "Are you sure that you
want to talk?" asked Liz.
Max was now blushing, which made Liz blush some more. "Listen, Liz, I need to know what you have heard so far out of today. Did anyone tell you something about two people sleeping together?" asked Max.
"Yeah, actually. Someone did tell me, and since we're here. I think now is a better time than any."
"Liz...."
"I don't mean it that way, Max. But I do have a question for you. Do you know who could have spread this rumor?" asked Liz.
"No, not a clue. Do you?" asked Max.
"If I knew I would have told you already," said Liz.
As Liz touched the door handle, Max quickly grabbed her hand and said, "Liz wait."
"Yeah, Max?"
Max was only inches away from her mouth, but he right away let her arm go, and said, "Nevermind."
"Bye Max," said Liz, who sounded disappointed. She then left Max with his thoughts.
Little did they know, Tess was right above them listening to their whole conversation. "Sounds like my little rumor worked pretty well. Now maybe I can get Max closer to me, and Liz will be out of the picture for good," said Tess.
It was now 3:00 p.m. and everyone was relieved. Especially Max
and Liz, who both had a very interesting day.
As Liz walked over to Maria's car, she found an impatient Maria
inside, who was taking in very deep breaths, when Tess came up
behind her. "Liz, right?" asked Tess.
"That would be correct," said Liz. "What can I do for you, Tess?" asked Liz.
"Well, I was wondering if maybe you would like to come over my house and we could like get to know each other. Since we just met," said Tess, with a grin that sent Liz a warning that if she ever looked at Max again, she would kill her.
Liz had a feeling that if she went over to Tess's house tonight, she would not come out happy. "Sorry, Tess, but I have too much homework. Maybe some other time," said Liz.
As she and Maria drove away, Tess thought of something that
would make Liz's life not worth living.
Scene: Max's House
Isabel and Max were talking about school and who may have started
that rumor. " Well, I'm gonna go to bed. Maybe you should do
the same," said Isabel. As she walked off, Max decided to
call Liz. It wasn't that late anyhow, it was only 9:00 p.m.
"Come on, Liz pick up the phone," said Max to
himself, while waiting for Liz to answer the phone. When she
didn't pick up, he decided to go over and have a talk with her
face to face.
Scene: Liz's Bedroom
When Liz got home from school, finished her homework, and worked
her shift, she decided to go to bed early tonight. But tonight
her plans had changed because after she closed her bedroom door,
Tess came up behind her and knocked her out.
When Liz woke up she had a headache the size of a rock. Tess must have hit me pretty hard, thought Liz.
"Well, maybe now you will learn your lesson, Liz. Which
is to stay away from my boyfriend Max. But since you couldn't do
that, I'll have to kill you," said Tess.
