Favorite artists, albums and songs:
John Williams (the composer) |
Star Wars (original Trilogy) - Princess Leia's Theme, Han & Leia's Theme, Luke & Leia's Theme, Father-Brother-Sister Theme, The Imperial March, The Asteroid Field
Indiana Jones (Raiders) - Marion's Theme
Superman (I) - Lois' Theme
E.T. - Flying Theme, Farewell, Credits (cameo of Yoda's Theme is funny)
Close Encounters - Farewell (Pinocchio Theme is interesting)
Hook - Tinkerbell's Theme (I'm a bit biased towards all the romantic themes, I know...)
Phillip Glass - the only piece I've ever heard was Metamorphosis (in an Intro to Music class that I took as a humanities requirement), but I loved it so I really think I'd like his other stuff.
Henri Mancini - I've only ever heard the Pink Panther theme, but I REALLY like it (I'm such a simpleton, I know...)
Theme of In the Hall of the Mountain King (who does that?)
Chopin - not sure of the names, but my mom played lots of Chopin pieces when I was little.
Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata, which my sister used to play so very well (now she's switching to violin), probably other pieces too.
Picnic Suite - Claude Bolling; I guess this is classical jazz, my mom used to play the flute lines.
Larry Carlton - Alone but never Alone, my mom's CD. See: http://www.mr335.com/
The Innovators - The one about Masonry, Requiem, and the one about Stephen Hawking. A group of independent musicians who attached a whole album of instrumental stuff to some software CD - was it Word Star? Anyway, my dad has this CD. The team is headed up by Kurt Bestor and Sam Cardon, who do the majority of soundtracks for Feature Films for Families. See: http://www.kurtbestor.com/
Wipeout (the computer racing game) - I think it's track #5
Return to Zork - Main Theme, Waif's Theme
Sara Brightman - pop opera stuff
Eden - Eden, Dust in the Wind (orig. by Kansas), Tu, track #9, and one that I can't remember, but once when I was singing along my mom told me I hit high-E. I was quite proud, not only is this difficult stuff, but I think the human range is only supposed to go to a high-G.
The Fifth Element's song of the blue alien
Andrew Lloyd Webber |
Cats - Memory
Annie - ALL of the songs, that's why I used to want to be a singer...(that and Margaret Becker) |
