Camas
is a city situated just only 4 km to Seville, in a valley, together Guadalquivir river,
but enmarked at Aljarafe zone. The city is just 13 meters over the sea level, and has a
population of 25,000. Its original name ("Camas" means "beds" in Spanish) comes from arabic "Al-Kama", a rich muslim who stablished his owns on this site. We know the existance of Camas since Calcolitic period, but the first known civilization of there are Tartessos. A Prueba de ello son los famosos restos arqueológicos hallados en el cerro anexo a la localidad, y que además le confiere su nombre: el "Tesoro del Carambolo". Well-known celebrities who were born in Camas are, for example, the bulfighters Curro Romero and Paco Camino. Nowadays, the economical future of Camas is based in metal industry, buying & selling homes and big-malls commerce. |
· Acts
Rendez-Vous 2004 will be hosted mainly in two stages very closed between themselves. The first one is "Rafael Alberti" Public Library. The second one is the Cityhall of Camas. Both are situated in the centric Nuestra Señora de los Dolores' Square.
