21st February 2003 (Friday)

Today, my best friend left for KL. She'll only be coming back in April or May. . .I'm going to miss her so much!!! >< The past few days with her were so much fun, I wish we could rewind and replay them all over again.

Just within days of Valentine's day, we had to arrange flowers for a Malay wedding at a 5 star hotel. My best friend (MBF) and I helped out on the eve of the wedding, namely arranging the flowers in the working room, making sure they were well watered and had ice cubes in their buckets. I don't know what were the arrangements, but we were some how left stranded in the hotel for a good five hours. We came at around 3, set up everything, and thought my aunt would come around 4. Man, we were waiting like idiots amongst roses and lilies in a stuffy store room, and were wondering whether they've forgotten all about us.

After an hour plus, I got thirsty and wanted some fresh air. Besides, I wouldn't passThe foliage around the pool :) up the opportunity to enjoy the scenery outside. The hotel was situated along the beach and the view was BEAUTIFUL! :D The weather was so nice with clear blue skies, the blue sea, the evening sun and a nice tropical breeze. Actually, it was kind of windy, but we didn't really mind, the atmosphere was so nice :) We strolled through the garden to the pool side where they had a bar and took a look at the menu.

I couldn't believe my eyes at first. The price of a coconut drink was RM9.00!!! Bloody hell, I said, I'm not paying that much for a coconut when I know it's a lot cheaper about 1 km from here. So we turned around and went back to our working room. But a few minutes later, we came out again and ordered a coconut for two. A coconut for RM9.00 didn't sound so bad after all so what the heck, we'll just enjoy the atmosphere and the service. Besides, it was too far to walk for the cheaper coconut!

My best friend had an ice cream and we shared the coconut drink. We had such a nice conversation and observed the foreigners staying at the hotel. There was a Richard Gere look-alike at the next table, but he was talking to another woman, much to MBF's chagrin, hehe. Then at one point, she said: "If only you were a gorgeous man!" I could understand what she meant, the atmosphere was romantic, you could fall in love any time. I sighed and said that it would be so nice if she were a handsome man sitting in front of me. She gave me a mock pout and said: "You mean you don't want me here?" I replied that she implied the same thing to me earlier. "But I'm special!" she whined. Hehehee. :D We went back to our working room after that, and indulged in girl talk until 8pm, when my aunt finally arrived with our dinner. After that, we worked into the night, and I went home around 10pm.

The next day, we continued work until lunch time. Since MBF drove her car to the hotel, and I knew where to find food at the nearby town, I offered to go with her and buy lunch for all of us. Wow, I just love the scenery at the sea side, at any time of the day. That afternoon, the view was magnificent. Swaying coconut trees grazing the bluest skies, and the gentle sea waves upon soft white sands. . .Ooh la la.  We saw all that when we were moving along the sea side road. Actually, it was more like speeding along the road ;) The road was clear, so we blasted the sound speakers and wound down the windows. MBF stepped on the accelerator until we were driving at 100kmph.

Suddenly, a bird walked across the road in our path. I started to scream, and the nearer we were to the bird, the louder I screamed. Just at the LAST possible moment, the bird got into turbo mode and flapped madly out of our way. When I stopped screaming and MBF slowed down, she turned to me and said: "DON'T EVER DO THAT AGAIN!" I said that we were about to mow that bird down, and she replied: "Would you rather one dead bird or two dead people?" Haii, whenever I think back about that incident, I'd either start laughing or break into a devilish grin. >:) I know the situation was quite dangerous, but the expression on MBF's face was very funny, like she didn't know whether to laugh at me or strangle me!

A chair in the gardensLater that day, she had to leave so we said our last goodbyes :*( My aunt, my cousin and I continued working and we finished in the evening. We finished earlier than expected, and even had time to take photographs! I took some nice shots of my cousin, and some hilarious ones as well when she wasn't ready >;) There was one photograph of her with her arm held out across her torso, because I took it when she was telling me to take a photo of her from that line and above. Oops! *:D In return, she took shots of me with wind blown hair, and she would call me a lion whenever she saw it!

The day turned to night, and I had to go home. I really enjoyed myself there, and I hope there would be more fun occasions like this. I have an island trip this Sunday, we'll see how that goes :) Cheers! -- 9:00pm
