Fastforward Slashing suddenly sat bolt upright in bed, sweat pouring down his forehead as he found himself sobbing bitterly. That night still tormented him, as did most of his previous 14 years, but years had passed and he and his brother had made ammends. Such a horrid past shouldn't chew at his soul, not anymore at least. Rune had explained himself, his reasoning behind the whole thing. It'd been a warped reason, but it had been true: Rune had lost a part of himself, and in a sense, had lost his mind. It took both of them to the brink of death before this was revealed, and it had been only with the help of a very kind Healer that Rune had even survived. Despite the past, he loved his brother dearly and longed to see him again...perhaps that was why he was having the nightmares lately? Rune had sent him a letter, promising to come visit soon and Slashing was filled with a nervous anxiety about when that day would come. Slowly he pushed himself out of bed and wandered out of the room toward the living room. He had a place of his own now, and though he spent a lot more time alone than he used to, he also spent a large majority of it with Emilie, a good friend of his. Yawning slightly, he stretched languidly, only to pause in the middle of the motion. Rune was sitting on the couch, just as beautiful as he always was. His silvery eyes fastened on Rune's crimson orbs, a smile etched over his pale face. "Hey, little brother. Don't look so surprised, I told you I'd be here soon." "Oh! Rune!" Slashing darted forward, throwing his arms about the neck of the man who had once tried to murder him. "I missed you!" Rune laughed and hugged his brother back. Many would've called him naive, stupid even, for trusting a man that had such a solid record as a murderer, who had even tried to kill him, but Rune was glad. If Slashing hadn't forgiven him than he wasn't sure what he would've done...he would've given up on life a long time ago. "I know I missed your birthday, but I got you something anyway. Well, sort of. I found out some news for you, is more acurate." The silver-haired male chuckled softly, and pulled a slip of paper from the pocket of his black cloak. "Here we go." He handed the crumbled parchment to Slashing and sat back, lifting an eyebrow as he watched Slashing twist it over in his hands. The parchment held information about what Slashing began to figure was a breed of dragon. He blinked, eyes widening slightly and he tilted his head up at his brother. For him to have information about a dragons, let alone a current clutch, then Rune must've actually gone near dragons and the male never did that anymore, not after his original bond had been murdered. "Oh! Rune! Thank you!" Rune grinned widely. "Hey, you're only 16 once. Besides, after how I treated you...well, you deserve it." Slashing swallowed heavily and nodded before dipping his head to continue reading. After a moment he smiled, noting that the element of these dragons were Electric and Mud, which both complimented his electric abilities in one way or another. Electricity because it amplified his abilities, and Mud because it would be a stable grounding, something he needed very much. With a happy squeal he threw his arms around Rune's neck again, kissing his brother soundly on the cheek. "So, kid, when do you want to go?" |
