Up at the breakfast table Chamber and Scallen discused the eggs which he'd offered for her to fetch. They now sat in the middle of the table and Scallen had a book infront of him, he smiled at Chamber. It had been a long time since she's stayed with him this long, but he'd spent years working with her. Maybe these eggs would keep her with him. He could only hope. Looking up he frowned, she was already slipping away from him. She slowly slumped in her chair her eyes almost begging to focus on her eggs. Scallen bit his lip than began to speak.

"It says here," He looked at her, she'd slumped farther but her eyes stayed on him. "That your egg is a male. Green are male and Blue are female. We'll have to wait until it hatches to find anything else about him." She nods and strokes her eggs...A moment later she was gone. She'd drifted back into her austitic state.

* * * Two Days Later * * *
Chamber lay in bed, her expresion withdrawn but in a way still grasping to reality by the want to watch her egg. She sighs as if her desperation to find the egg through her thick haze of her autistic withdrawl and reality. Suddenly a voice tears her from her the trance; it was Scallen.

"Chamber. Look what I got you." He desperatly hoped the girl was listening, but even more so; he hoped this bishel dragon would bring her from her autistic state. Chamber's eyes rose to look at Scallen and he smiled softly as he pulled two small plushies from behind his back. One is a black aboreal-terrain hybrid plushie, the other is a beautiful faebishen plushie. Her eyes light up.

[Beanies]

"Oh they are so beautiful!" She exclaims and takes the offered toys holding them close to her.

Now her eyes quickly settle on the two eggs nestled in the sheets of her bed. Deep inside she wanted more than ever to escape completly from the autistic state, another voice inside however, told her she never would. She picked up the bishen egg and cradled it in her arms for a moment, whispering against the shell. "You'll help me. Won't you?"

Scallen tilted his head, he wasn't sure what she'd said to her egg for she had a way of speaking so softly it was usually impossible to hear her. He turned and went upstairs while Chamber cuddled her new plushies and stroked the eggs, she vowed she'd give the plushies to her bishen when it hatched.

* * *

Chamber had fallen asleep while watching her eggs and was now curled in a small ball for her room was quite cold. Suddenly a loud "crack" next to her head made her jolt into a sitting position. Once again lost in her own world she searched for the sound made from reality. Nothing? Where was she?! Something made a loud "tree!" sound trilling with concern as it looked at Chamber. She had come back again and saw her lovely Bishen had hatched!

[Wyrm]

She guessed the little wyrm had seen her distance and become worried for now it seemed content. It whistled happily at her and curled into her lap. She giggled happily and stroked the dragon contently. Upstairs she heard a knock on the door and as curiostiy got the best of her she wandered upstairs.

The blue wyrm slithered up with her tilting his head and making a confused noise at Chamber's sudden change in emotion. The girl was scared and it bothered him. He crooned softly and nudged her gently. Her eyes focused on the woman in the doorway. She wore a white lab coat, like the man who'd shot Scallen. Scallen gave the woman a kind smile and the two sat down and began to talk. Chamber could barely hear them, but she got bits of their words.

"She's doing much better." There was a pleasant tone in his strong yet gentle voice.

"Thats good to hear. ..." She said something that made Chamber strain to hear it. "...Foster parents..." Chamber let out a helpless whimper, though she couldn't hear all that had been said she knew they were going to give her away. Scallen was just as shocked.

"I'll keep her with me!" He practically shouted, the woman was startled but made her expression calm again. Chamber scooped her Bishen up in her arms and walked bravely on shaking legs towards her guardian.

"Scallen?" She whimpered against her desire to look strong. "What's happening?"

She had wanted to seem as if she hadn't heard, that she'd only come to see why he was yelling. The whimper decieved her though. Scallen was about to try and cover up for what he knew she'd heard when he heard the doctor sitting with him shriek. He looked at her and she pointed at the creature in Chamber's arms.

"What is that!?" She said in shock and horror as if she were looking at a poisonous snake. The small blue wyrm made a frightened tree and burried its head in Chamber's arms.

"He's my little bishel dragon. I found his egg and he hatched. Now he's mine. And we'll be friends forever."

Chamber forced herself to sound confident though she was scared. Scared that she was going to lose him and everything else that was precious to her when she was taken away.

"His name is Amarith." She didn't know where the name came from it just popped in her head and she could hear Amarith crooning softly in agreement of his name. The woman seemed to relax that Amarith was not snake, nor was he dangerous. She smiled sweetly.

"I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, little one. Now would you like to take a little ride up to the city with me?"

Chamber looked up at her guradian. "You and Amarith will come with me?"

The woman went to protest but Scallen already answered. "Of course. Now, Shall we be going?"

He stood up and stroked Chamber's hair. Chamber smiled happily and ran outside ahead of everyone else and got into the car. She sat Amarith next to her and the wyrm whistled happily. He slithered to the window and chriped with glee at what he saw.

It was the ocean. Never ending waters of the clearest blue, the sun glistening down onto the endless water making it seem as if the water held thousands of tiny dimonds. He looked at Chamber with excited and intrested eyes and with a happy chirp he spoke. Yet even as he was about to ask it his mind answered for him. 'Ocean?' Somewhere in his young mind he'd heard it even though he'd so recently hatched.

*What...* He struggled for the words to come to his mind. *What is...is that!?"* Amarith whistled in excitment of those words and Chamber giggled looking out at her beautiful stretch of ocean.

"It's the ocean." Chamber answered happily as she scooped the dragon into her arms and hugged it. A few minutes later Scallen and the female doctor got into the car.

* * *

After a long while they arrived in the city. Chamber eyes lit with excitement, it had been a long time since she'd been in the city. Amarith looked up with glittering black eyes happy because he sensed she was happy. The Female Doctor turned to look at Chamber as they parked infront of a large office building.

"Now, where would you like to go today Chamber?" Chamber was suddenly silent. She stared into the lady's eyes untrustingly and slowly turned her gaze to Scallen. He tried to give her a reasurring look but it was betrayed by the worry of her being taken away. He shrugged then smiled.

"It's up to you." Chamber stroked Amarith's head and said slowly.

"I want to go swimming in the ocean with Amarith...Back home." The Doctor seemed shocked.

"But don't you want to see the city?" The Doctor said with a puzzled tone. Chamber shook her head.

"No. Its too big, it scares Amarith." Amarith remained silent his dragonic head watching the Doctor cautiously. "Can't we go home Scallen?" She said quietly. He nodded slowly and looked at the Doctor.

"You heard the lil' lady. She wants to go back home." There was an expression of relief in his eyes. Then he paused. "Actually...Lets take her out for ice cream. She doesn't get that a lot." The Doctor nodded and began to drive them all to the ice cream parlor.

When they got there Scallen pulled Chamber aside and frowning slightly said... "Chamber, if the Doctor tries to make you leave, you run away. Don't let her take you away from me while I'm gone." Chamber looked confused.

"But...Why? Why are you going to go away!?" Amarith cocked his head to one side and spoke also.

*Yes...* He looked thoughtful. *Why?* Scallen smiled at young Amarith.

"Because I need to get some paper forms to make sure no one takes away Chamber from me. But the Doctor doesn't want me to." He stroked the Bishen's head. "You'll have to promise you'll protect my little girl." Amarith nodded nobely and nuzzled against Chamber's cheek.

*I will. Always.* Scallen smiled and left.

Chamber was nervous as Scallen left her; what was she to do? The Doctor gave Chamber a look that made Chamber want to run as she stepped up to her.

"Can I get an ice cream cone?" She said quietly. The Doctor nodded and in a sweet voice answered.

"Of course. What gave you the idea you couldn't?" She smiled and went to the register and began to order the ice cream. Chamber bit her lip then called. "Strawberry?"

The lady nodded and then returned with an ice cream for the child. Chamber stood against the wall and slowly at her ice cream, ocassionally letting Amarith lick at the ice cream. As they finished the Doctor smiled and walked to them. "So, shall we be leaving?"

Chamber stepped back. "Scallen isn't here yet!"

The Doctor nodded. "I know, but its best we leave now."

Chamber shook her head franticly. "No! I'm suppose to stay with Scallen." The Doctor reached out to take the panicked child's arm but Amarith growled lowly. Yet the Doctor didn't recoil, instead she clutched Chamber's small arm and began to lead her out. "No!!!" Chamber cried and pulled herself loose.

In fear she turned and began running as fast as she could through the crowded city streets. Amarith held closely to her and the frightened child continued to run through the people towards the direction Scallen had gone. She didn't know if the Doctor followed her or not but she kept running.

After a long time she stopped and collapsed in an alleyway panting heavily. Amarith chriped with worry and made a frightened treee sound. Panting Chamber sat up, hugged her knees to her chest and whimpered.

"What am I going to do Amarith? What am I going to do!" Amarith chirped again and nuzzled her leg. After a few minutes of catching her breah she fell asleep for she was exhausted from running so far. Amarith curled in her lap and watched for her, being sure he'd be able to protect her.

* * *

Hours went by and Chamber only stirred ocassionaly before soothing back into sleep. The small dragon raised its head and searched. Something was wrong, a doomed feeling enveloped him. He couldn't figure it out then it caught his nose...The scent of the Doctor...He chirped and nuzzled Chamber.

*Chamber...Chamber! No sleep! No Sleeep!* Amarith pleaded her to wake up. With a soft groan she did. *Wake, wake! The bad lady's coming.*

Instantly Chamber was to her feet holding Amarith close to ther chest. *Run run!!* And Chamber did; for without a second thought Chamber was running down the busy city sidewalk. She heard the Doctor call out from behind her.

"Chamber! Get back here!!" The voice only made her run faster. She whimpered and continued her terrified blind run through the city. Once or twice she ran into someone but quickly continued running, ignoring scrapes or cuts on her small hands or elbows. She couldn't stop, the lady would catch her. Soon her legs began to ache and sting from running and she found a small alley to hide in. Helplessly she began to cry.

"I want Scallen! I'm so scared..." Amarith crooned gently. The bad feeling returned and he flung his small blue head up and his eyes met with the Doctor's. He let out a sharp "treeee!" and jumped slightly.

Chamber cried out and backed away. "Go away! Go away!!!" She cried helplessly then was seized into the arms of the Doctor...Amarith's mouth was bound by string and without arms he was defenseless.

Chamber whimpered and struggled and cried. "Let me go!!!" No use... Soon the doctor found her car and set Chamber inside and began to drive away.

In the back seat Chamber sobbed against the neck of her bishel dragon. Amarith frowned he couldn't understand what was happening, but he could feel every ounce of her fear.

*No cry? No cry?* The dragon crooned. *No cry....* He repeated as she stifled her tears and stroked his head.

"We'll get back to Scallen..." She hissed the words to herself with a blank defiance that almost scared her. But perhaps, it was fear that made her say it so. Amarith nodded.

*We shall.* Amarith had a good feeling about his bond being able to get back to where she loved to be. He knew it. He hoped it. Chamber now sat watching the silent Doctor with a defiant look. A side of the silent withdrawn child was resurfacing with the life giving love of the dragon she held.

* * *

Within hours Chamber arrived at a large building. The sign out front said "Azlin Orphanage and Adoption Center". Chamber gasped to herself.

"Adopted?! No! I can't!" She begged and began crying. Adoption meant being taken away from Scallen, forever. Amarith chripped and whirred afraid only because he knew she was. He settled and looked at her.

*Don't lose hope, Chamber, we'll get back.* She smiled weakly and nodded.

With a shiver she let herself be lead from the car and was soon within the building. With a whimper she sank into a chair and let herself sink away from reality. Bravely quiet little Amarith sat on her shoulder watching all whom passed. People whispered and talked and befre anything could really happen Chamber was lifted away, Amarith on her shoulder the whole way, and was adopted by a small family.

Days went by before Chamber emerged from the catatonic state. She whimpered piteously and the foster parents ran into the room. Chamber yelped and clutched onto Amarith. The Dragon cooed and nudged her. She relaxed and gave them a brave look. They came near her and she whipped back against the bed board.

*Don't touch me.* Amarith projected from the child's silent lips. *She doesn't want to be touched.* Amarith corected himself and coiled into her lap. He was getting bigger and his speach was becoming clearer. The foster parents were shocked.

"But Chamber, we're your parents now. We'll help you."

*I was stolen from my rightful Guardian and I will return to him.* This time it was obvious he spoke for the muted girl he guarded. The foster mother shook her head.

"I'm sorry m'dear but your home is here now."

"No..." Chamber whispered. She whimpered and held onto Amarith. "I have to go home." Her eyes pleaded the people standing infront of her but the plead was rejected. Chamber whimpered and huddled into the blankets.

(Beginning of Shrape Story)

One day after what seemed like weeks Chamber rose from the bed as she often did and went to her bed room window. Amarith slithered along beside her and sighed. He looked up at her.

*You miss the ocean?*

She nodded slowly her small figure leaned against the window sill. Amarith was getting fairly large and would be sharpe soon. Chamber patted his head and smiled sadly.

"Maybe my foster parents will take me." She cringed at the words and began to walk into the her parents bedroom for that was usually where they were early in the morning. As she entered the room both parents sat up and gazed at the child figure and the dragon that slithered along side her. She sighed. "May we go to the beach today?"

The foster parents gazed out the window. They frowned. "But Chamber its such a dreadful day for a trip to the beach."

She knew they spoke the truth for it was dark and dreary outside. Not the rainy dreary, just an all around depressing kind of day. The sun seemed to have never risen and smokey whisps and cloud muggled the sky. Chamber sighed and her throat squeezed shut, sadness blocking her words.

Amarith understood and spoke her thoughts. *The day will only make the beach less crowded. And I'll be able to go. Plus, Chamber prefers these kind of days because they are often taken advantage of. So, can we go?* Chamber smiled faintly and pat her growing Wyrm on the head proudly.

The parents sighed and nodded. "Very well." Chamber's foster mother said and began to get ready for a day at the beach. With a happy look in her gentle eyes Chamber walked outside and sat on the step. She had everything she needed...Amarith. That and Scallen, and she would get him...no matter what.
