The Aphotic Labyrinth

Beneath the full moon's watchful eye, you make your way up from the docks and your recently departed ship to the Aphotic Inn. The Inn is little more than an outpost before heading into the Aphotic Labyrinth; a structure built entirely underground by races which had vanished long before Ravyn's occupance of the large island. She has worked tirelessly to map the winding corridors, an effort which has paid in full for she can now navigate each lightless hall with near perfection. Luckily, no one else need attempt to decipher the maze, as Ravyn has placed torches in all the proper corridors so that travelers do not get lost within the countless lightless halls.

The first sight of the black, monolithic Southern Gates is absolutely breath taking, especially once one takes note of the lightless void which is the start of the Aphotic Labyrinth. It is only once the stone stairs smooth away into winding coridor that you are finally brought back into a lighted world by generously placed lanterns which blaze welcomingly in what would otherwise be a dark and foreboding lair.

Here the walls are covered in images of the sea, starting from the shore and descending to the aphotic depths when you finally reach the first forks. Five paths branch off in various directions, some dark and some lit with the familiar lanterns though a map given to you at the Inn informs you on which path to take to reach each of the various exits: the haunted castle, Stranded Twilight, at the Western Gate, the ancient stronghold, Frore's Keep, at the Northern Gate, the lost Elysian Temples at the Eastern Gate and the newly created Aesthrae Adoptions at the Central Gate.

Which gate will you persue?
