Venus: The Morning Star
Venus
- The hottest planet because of its thick, thick atmosphere.
Venus' atmosphere is the Greenhouse effect gone wild. It's
atmosphere traps the suns heat and thus it cannot escape
making it get hotter and hotter. Venus' surface temperature
reaches upwards of 482°C!
- Called the evening or morning star because, depending on
where it is in relation to Earth, it is most often the first
star you see in the sky as the sun sets or the last as the
sun rises.
- Was named after The Roman goddess of love because it
looked so beautiful in the sky.
- It appears very yellow in the sky when viewed through
binoculars or a telescope because it's clouds reflect the
suns light.
- Has no moons.
- Sometimes called Earth's twin sister because it is almost
the same size as Earth.
- Rotates in the opposite direction as Earth. So on Venus
the sun would rise in the west!
- Almost all the land forms on Venus are named for famous
women, such as the Greek goddess Aphrodite and the pilot
Amelia Earhart.
- It's atmosphere is very poisonous to humans. Composed of
