July Meet: July 19th, at the Yellow Jacket Campground 10 mi south of Old town on 349 on the beautiful Suwannee River. If you need overnight accomodations call Bibbi at 352-542- 8365 for camping or cabin reservations. Notice: Starting immediately, anyone who wants to post a price in the classifieds is welcome to do so. Have had a lot of requests to allow it and being an old marketing man, it only serves to help the prices to stabilize. It also saves time & trouble of calling on items that a buyer feels are overpriced. Editorial: There is a petition circulating at meets around the country, which originated in the Great Lakes Chapter, regarding financial reporting requirements for the national organization to the membership. It's a very simple requirement that a financial reports be regularly published in the Outboarder and a twice a year oversight person be appointed to spot check the books. There is presently no requirement for reporting which is amazing. It's simple accountability. As our grandchildren would say.. "It's a no-brainer" Please sign it to help insure the future of this fine club. When the required number of signatures are gathered (10%) it will be put on the ballot. So be sure to vote for it when the ballot comes out as well. Thanks to Don Abel & Bob Walwork for finding an excellent alternative site on the Winter Haven Chain of lakes for the 2003 International AOMC meet Oct 23-26. All activities and the home base will still be the same as before the closing of Cypress Gardens. Admiral Inn will be the headquarters and the meet will be held at Lake Shipp Park just around the lake from The Harborside Restaurant. They have secured exclusive use of the park from the county for the meet. |
