AdAware is the most popular malware remover currently available. It scans your local disk and registry, to search for any known forms of malware. It then displays the results, and shows you more information about the file. It has a built in updater, so that you can update to the latest definitions, so that you are always protected against new threats.

Please ensure that you run a definition update before scanning your computer.

Spybot S&D is also a popular malware remover. It contains a built in updater, so that you can ensure you are protected from the latest versions of malware.All found malware will be shown at the end, and more details about the file can be viewed.

Ants Programs reccomends that Spyware Blaster (below) be installed with this program.

This program integrates with Spybot S&D and provides combined protection. Spyware Blaster runs inside SPybot S&D, which runs in the background. Each known piece of spyware which is downloaded through web pages, is blocked, providing you have the latest updates, and all protection enabled.

Spy Sweeper also runs in the background, and contains a home page shield, and a tracking cookie shield. These protect against your home page being changed by another program, without your permission, and also it provides protection against tracking cookies, by blocking and deleting them. Spy Sweeper does not allow you to update, without a paid subscription, but many forms of Spyware are still found, and it is also a very good background protection program.

Ants Programs does not reccomend this as a main scanner, due to no updates feauture

This program has a very good interface, which is also very easy to follow. It returns quick and thorough scan results. However, like many freeware scanners, this also does not contain a updater.
