No doubt that the best place to find good and varied patterns is in books. But here in Spain these are not always easy to find. We can sometimes buy them in shops specialized in handcrafts (only if they have bobbin lace material), sometimes in kiosks, but it is sure you can find them at Lace Meetings. Nevertheless, there are many people that, without wanting to make money of it, design patterns and offer them free on the web. We can download them for personal use, but are not allowed to sell them nor make money with them (which unfortunately sometimes happens). They have a copyright; they are not our property.

Here I have selected the most interesting web site addresses.

In Spanish

  • Here you can download free the Lace Catalogue edited by the Junta de Galicia (Government of Galicia, Spain), with a selection of typical Galician patterns, made by Concepción Canoura. http://www.xunta.es/conselle/in/industria/WebIndust.nsf/fb89e3a8bb883872c125690500334c2b/2f984943705b31f3c1256fcc004b7c1d?OpenDocument The CATALOGUE is a recopilation of the lace made in the four provinces of
Galicia (situated on the NW part of Spain), where lace making has a great
tradition. The lace in Galicia is made with quite thick thread, ranging from number 50
to 20, even 10. These laces are used as edgings for sheets, tablecloths, doilies, handkerchiefs.

Quick TRANSLATION of the important things of the catalogue:
In page 9 you will find find the stitches that are used in Galician bobbin
    lace.
Nome: name; "sen nome": without name. Many names I don't understand them
either, as the texts is written in galego, language spoken in Galicia (quite
similar to portuguese). But I can find out the translation if anyone is
    interested.
Número de palillos: number of bobbins
Fío: thread. Algodón branco: white cotton
    Puntos empreados: used stitches
Grao de dificultade: difficulty. Alto: high; baixo: low
Aumento de pares: pairs to be added
Consellos para o traballo: working suggestions
