Bobbins, patterns and laces from Luisa's grandmother Luisa's grandmother lived in Yunquera de Henares, 12 kms north of Guadalajara. She used to make a lot of lace, which was quite common in these are many years ago. She used the typical Spanish boxwood bobbins, small size. Luisa has only been able to get about 20 of them. The rest is dispersed among other members of her family.
These are some of the prickings she used.
And here is a sample of one her laces. Unfortunately I have only been able to photograph this one. The pattern is not very common. It resembles the laces made in Almagro (Ciudad Real, Spain). |
