Team will leave for Rome on a charter Monday morning. Have a nice trip!
(19.Yusuf)
Supporters called for Dogan's resignation and set fire on the stands. Will they come back Thursday? Slim chance.
This is the 5th defeat in 5 (league) encounters with the Big 3 this season. None are on a narrow margin.
Johnson and Bouazizi will miss the next league match. Save them (and others) for the UEFA return leg.
The Adana tie next week has been moved to Sunday.
Table-wise, the team has tied with GS for the 5th place, just a point away from 4th-placed Denizli.
For the new U-21 team Bekir was the only nominee. Except he's young enough for the category (1.1.83 and later), not sure what he did to deserve the selection. :)
02-29-2004 (Sun)
Adana 2-3 Antepspor (11.Umit Ozan, 20.Lalik) (15.Lazo, 35.Erdal, 45.Mehmet Polat)
Team managed to win 3 points in Adana's crowdless stadium. 5 changes (2 forced) from Wednesday's initial lineup. Ilhan won his 4th card.
02-26-2004 (Thu)
UEFA Cup 3rd-rd 1st leg: Gaziantepspor 1-0 AS Roma
Not sure whether to joy because Roma in Rome is of a different planet. But they came and we downed them. And that's enough for history. 20,000 people packed the stadium and the team set the fire on Roma. 2nd leg in 6 days, after a stop at Adana.
02-25-2004
Roma arrived in Gaziantep with their minds firmly on ..Parma (on the weekend). Nevertheless, this is a historic day for Antep.
(L: Capello and Delvecchio. R: Nurullah hoca alone.)
Have Baklava and smile!
02-24-2004
Roma is arriving in Gaziantep on 25th. 20 players on the list announced today. Totti, Cassano, and Montella aren't coming.

02-23-2004
This is what people know of Gaziantep in Italy.
02-22-2004 (Sun)
(name withheld) 1-5 Fenerbahce (90.H.Özer) (7,27,51,64,88)
These days we are so much in love with Fenerbahce. Players are filled with chickens who live on Istanbul-day pensions. It wasn't like this last season.
02-20-2004
Bouazizi is ready to go Sunday. Jaziri, arriving late and slightly injured, is slated for the second half.
02-18-2004
Friendly: Turkey 0-1 Denmark
First international since the (unsuccessful) Euro playoff. Full minutes for Ibrahim. (No fault on the goal conceded.)
Waiting for their former teammates.(R)
Playing a different kind of a ball game.(L)
(The pitch at Kamil Ocak needs to be cleared before Sunday.)
02-17-2004
U-21 friendly: Turkey 2-0 Denmark
Bekir won the first cap (in this cat.) playing in the second half.
02-15-2004 (Sun)
Konyaspor 0-3 Gaziantep (40.Yusuf, 88.Sedat, 90.Ilhan)
And the team responds! Supposedly a difficult away tie under the below-zero conditions, but we breezed through. A good exercise before the next week's tie against FB.

Great news from Tunisia.
African Nations Cup final: Tunisia 2-1 Morroco.
Winning goal on the 52nd minute by Ziad Jaziri.
(He may be on his way out, but the club can receive a fair value in return.)
The goal (L) Co-captain (R)

New national team squad has been announced. Ömer and Ibrahim for A team. The friendly will be held in Adana. (No trip to Istanbul over the very snowy weekend.)
There's a message:
Some talk on today's Sabah (and Fotomac). Transfer aside, Ibrahim is quoted on pondering a move to Japan because of many fans from the country.
___Don't be like Mansiz___
In exchange for $2M a year (and a huge villa, new model car, 24-hour SP's, and endless endorsements), he stopped playing the kind of football fans really looked for in him - playing at the top of Europe both with club and with Turkey.
Fans who closely follow Turkish football from Japan are very disappointed with Ibrahim's comment, already seeing Mansiz mocking smiles on every camera occasion.
Rather than saying going to Japan (before Europe or anywhere else), please do not miss the few matches being telecast live. And don't show up with 4 stiches on the eyelid in one of them (and concede goals and be cautioned, etc.)!! :) It was a joke, right? (Don't get fans' messages wrong, Ibo.)
(BTW this pic is being recycled many times by Sabah/FotoM.)
OTOH Bouazizi and Jaziri's Tunisia defeated Nigeria after penalty shootouts to advance to the African Cup final. Both played full minutes.
Congratulations! The hosts Tunisia advance to the semifinal: Tunisia 1-0 Senegal. Both Jaziri and Bouazizi started. They cannot book a flight until 2/14 (the final; 3rd-place tie on 2/13).
In any case Happy Bayram to everyone!
African Cup: Tunisia 2-0 D.Congo - With 2 victories, Tunisia qualifies to QF's
(site to be updated later)
Mehmet Polat's availability will be known just before the match.
Bursa is coming on a charter to Gaziantep Friday.
Luce called Dogan, briefly in Antalya to visit the team, and invited him to Besiktas' Kremlin Hotel.
(So this looks like a big news. BTW how did his knee exams go? There's only one week left vs.Bursa...)
Team complete Antalya camp and come back to Gaziantep - weather permitted. :)
Cem Baki's transfer to Rize has been resolved. Alper's has not been while the player trains with Rize.
Mehmet Polat will be joining the camp in Manavgat today.
The rain in Antalya turned into storm over the weekend. It will continue for the next few days. The team will STAY there, however.
Huseyin is going to Elazigspor. Gaziantep acquires young Sedat Agcay in exchange.
Aside from Polat, Sahinturk, Cem Baki, Huseyin are yet to find a new club.
Practice match: Gaziantep 4-2 Karagumruk
Practice match: Gaziantepspor 0-0 Sivasspor
The Turkish Cup 3rd-rd tie (Jan.28) is against Besiktas in Kamil Ocak.
Ibrahim isn't fully fit yet. Chances are he will be in time. (Otherwise, our defense against Bursa will be like: Hasan Y.-Bekir-Kerem. Maybe it makes no difference...)
Cem Baki did NOT sign for Rize.
Yusuf Simsek signed. It's a 4-month loan deal (from Fener). He'll join the Belek camp one day later.
Fener may yet release Petkov once they signed enough number of foreigners. All of them can play in the UEFA Cup. Sure Aziz Yildirim wants something definite in return.
Cem Baki signs for Caykur Rize. Huyesin agreed with Vestel. Alper Akici is about to move to Rize until the end of the season, failing to get a nod from Antep.
02-11-2004 (Wed)
Turkey Cup 3rd rd: Gaziantep 0-0 Istanbulspor (aet, PK: 4-5)
Couldn't score against the bootstrapped team at home and that was it. Hope for Europe next season clings on making the top 3 in the league (top 4 if cup winners come from top 3).
02-07-2004 (Sat)
Gaziantep 2-0 Genclerbirligi (77.Hasan Ozer, 87.Johnson)
Both teams missed zillions of chances, but in the end it was Antep who converted a couple of. Moved up to 6th place.
02-06-2004 (Fri)
Final day of the mid-season transfers.
Signed: Yusuf, Hakan (Fenerbahce), Sedat (Elazig), Ahmet, Mehmet Kara (Gaz.BSB)
Gone: Cem Baki (Rize), Yaw Preko (Halmstad), Huseyin (Elazig), Mustafa Sahinturk (-).
01-31-2004 (Sat)
Galatasaray 3-0 Gaziantep
Team donated the home side its first victory in 8 official games. Worse, we lost Ibrahim next week - with a card on min.90 (that's a 6-point loss). Bouazizi and Jaziri won't come back.
01-28-2004 (Wed)
Gaziantep 4-1 Besiktas (Hasan Ozer, Yusuf, Lazarov -pk-, Mehmet Polat)
01-25-2004
Gaziantep 3-2 Bursa (Johnson, Hasan Ozer, Onur)
01-23-2004
The game against Bursa has been postponed to Sunday (13:30). (Instead of a direct charter, Bursa took a bus to Ankara, then took-off to Gaziantep.)
01-19-2004
Team resume training in prep. for the Bursa match. Jaziri, Bouazizi (African Nations' Cup), and Bulent (suspended) cannot play. There are no other injury worries, Saglam says (...that's right..).
01-17-2004
This made Fanatik's front page today.
01-16-2004
Friendly: Gaziantep 0-4 NAC Breda (HT: 0-2)
With the main pitch waterlogged, the game was held at a training ground. Still, we cannot compete against Dutch when playing in the water.
01-15-2004
Ibrahim is leaving the camp early to visit the doctor in Izmir.
01-14-2004
Friendly: Gaziantep 1-0 Malatya (78.Yusuf)
Fazli missed a penalty on 87th. Saglam is fielding young reserves in defense.
01-13-2004
Sahinturk has agreed with Elazigspor (or has he, definitely?).
01-12-2004
Friendly result: Gaziantepspor 3-4 RBC Roosendaal.
0-4 at half-time. Team don't have defenders.
01-10-2004
Papers report Tranzon failed Mehmet Polat's medical so as to get the player for free and pay on a match basis. Apparently, this is legal in Turkey.
01-08-2004
Shock! Mehmet Polat failed medical at Trabzon today. With no other clubs to go, he'd stay at Gaziantep. Reportedly, he carries waist injury and is to be sidelined indefinitely.
01-07-2004
Team is training in the gym in the morning and in the rain in the evening.
01-06-2004
Santos is yet to arrive. His club wants higher fees.
01-05-2004
C.Rize signed Cem Baki and Alper Akici. Huseyin didn't sign for Vestel. Mehmet Polat will sign with Trabzon once having agreed on fees (Gaziantep wants $300K).
01-02-2004
Antalya camp starts today.
