FOLLOWING THE MASTER
He wants us to follow Him, do the Farther’s will,
He set a perfect pattern that we can emulate still,
John baptized Jesus not because of any evil or sin
But as an example, and us His glory one day to win.
Jesus kept every commandment, He always did obey,
Never did anything wrong through His short life’s stay,
We need to be baptized so our sins may be forgiven,
For we know no unclean thing can enter into heaven.
As we enter the water a new life spreads out before us,
A mighty step toward truth and light, with joy we fuss
And praise the one who chooses the right and blessed way,
I hope that we can remember our own baptismal day.
Now feet planted on the path that leads to heaven above,
A path filled with stepping stones placed there with love,
The gateway, the gates now open so they can now enter in,
Starting off afresh freed from all past wickedness and sin.
