A GARLAND OF FLOWERS
A lovely archway made of a garland of flowers sweet,
Leading into an amazing garden a wonderful treat,
The perfume filled the air, it felt like some Paradise
Left behind for us to cherish, a gift of great price.

Interwoven flower garlands not usually bound together,
With roses and honeysuckle, lavender and sweet heather,
Ivy leaves of deep green and geraniums of brightest red,
In a rainbow of colour dancing lightly over our head.

Then you follow a path through shrubbery and trees,
All gently swaying in spritely rhythm with the breeze,
Hundreds of different roses, like a colourful quilt,
Impatience patches with alyssum beds filled to the hilt,

Butterflies add more grace and beauty to the pretty scene,
Unknown plants with strange names also can be seen,
Hanging baskets laden in a mass of mulicoloured beauty,
Attracting the humming birds as they hover in sheer glee.

I came home and dreamt of that garden with garlands fair
And all the beauty that is grown and tended there with care,
On cold winter days I will close my eyes and dream and drift
To the garlands festooned in fragrance beauty to give me a lift.
