The Deribasovska street itself is a tourist street, as you can call it. There are buildings with apartments but they are of course very expensive. There are a couple of hotels and in the rest of the buildings first floors are taken by expensive shops and cafes. All the main part of Deribasovska street in the summer is filled with cafes' summer pavilions. One of them offer karaoke singing, others play CDs or radio, and few of them have live guitar bands. It sounds very beautiful and somewhere people just stand for a while to listen because there is either no places or cafes are too expensive for them. Deribasovska street also often hosts "vagrant musicians" who come out to gather a bit of money. There are saxophone or violin or guitar single players, rock-bands, two Ukrainian bandourists, and Peruvian bands, which are welcomed very warmly (they play their country music as well as more modern Latino instrumental music such as El Condor Passa etc). There is also a park bordering Deribasovska street which is called Gorsad (City Garden) and this one is filled with artists selling all kinds of souvenirs - from craftworks to paintings. There are also painters who offer to draw your portrait or caricature quickly. This place, as you can guess, is also very popular with tourists. | Deribasovska street |
