Palais-Royale

---------

Right beside the Opera Theatre (as we call it for short) there is a wonderful courtyard called among Odessits Palais-Royale, which is formed by inhabited apartment buildings on three sides and the Opera Theatre on the fourth side; it takes a whole block of buildings. There are huge old trees in that courtyard, most of which are botanical monuments. There are more of those trees - platans, chestnuts and acacias in the oldest part of the city, they have appropriate plates and are guarded by the law. In the center of Palais-Royalethere is a fountain in the form of a young woman with her hands up like protecting her head from the "waterfall" which comes from the cup above her head. Around the fountain there is a round place bordered with benches, where Odessits like to come and it is also a very popular place among young people in love. Probably, it is due to a romantic corner on the opposite side of the fountain from the Opera theater. There is a flowerbed in form of the heart, filled with roses bushes, and in the deepest point of this "heart" stands the sculpture of two young lovers.
