The Ruby Trichy Warriors won their first match comfortably and then got off to a great start in the second as Murali Vijay started to take over. He scored 34 off just 16 balls and looked in prime touch. Vijay may not have played cricket for a couple of years now but he is still one of the most dangerous batters in the TNPL. He is the biggest risk you face if you bet against the Warriors!
The batting around him seems a bit thin. N Rajagopal and A Ganesh have scored runs but their strike rates are quite low. In fact, the overall firepower in the lineup appears to be a bit on the lower side. Yes, Murali Vijay can change this around single-handedly but if he gets out early, we think the Warriors are going to struggle with the bat.
Among the bowlers, Ajay Krishna, Arun Mozhi, and Mathivannan have been impressive with their ability to keep the runs down. In terms of wickets, though, it is Sarvana Kumar who has picked up four wickets so far while going for over 13 runs an over!

The Chepauk Super Gillies have had a rough start to TNPL 2022. Their first match ended in a tie during the regulation period and then they lost the Super Over. The second match was even worse as they were beaten even more comprehensively.
The team has had a couple of days off and will now hope to return with something better to show.
The team needs its senior players like N Jagadeesan, and Kaushik Gandhi to start scoring runs. Gandhi does have one fifty to his name but it not the most convincing one. U Sasidev has also played well but needs to convert his starts into really big scores.
Sonu Yadav and Harish Kumar are the all-rounders that have injected power and momentum into the Chepauk Super Gillies performances so far. We don't think there is any need to lose hope in the Super Gillies just yet. They have a decent batting lineup with a number of players that can step up.
They also have the advantage in terms of batting firepower and depth.
Sandeep Warrier would have been happy to see some extra bounce in the surface and would certainly be hoping to use it to his advantage. He bowls a hard length first up and could pick up some early wickets. R Alexander is the other bowler that the Super Gillies will bank on to pick up wickets.

The conditions in Dindigul promise to be excellent for cricket. There is no rain forecast and we should have a full, uninterrupted match to enjoy. The pitch has been a bit bouncy with a nice amount of carry. That will allow attractive stroke players to thrive while giving the bowlers a chance as well.
This is certainly a wicket on which a score of around 170 should be seen as par.
