AUS vs ENG Match & Dream 11 Prediction, Betting Tips, Playing 11, Pitch Report and Analysis - Jul 11, 2019

AUS vs ENG Prediction - Jul 11, 2019

The second semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2019 is going to be played between England and Australia at Edgbaston, Birmingham on the 11th of July. Not only are Australia and England the oldest rivals in cricket but they are also going to be playing an Ashes series against each other in the upcoming weeks.

This makes the result of this match even more important than it already is.

Australia could have avoided facing England by winning its last match against South Africa, however, a spirited performance from the Proteas allowed them to bow out with a win. England has no choice but to win its previous two matches to qualify for the semi-final and will be very pleased with how its team stood up under pressure.

We believe that both Australia and England would have liked to avoid this match but now that it coming, England is going to be the happier of the two teams.

Australia has not won an ODI at Edgbaston since 1993. It also lost against England here in the Champions Trophy 2017. The Aussies, though, are five-time World Cup winners and know better than any other team how to lift their game for the crunch situations.

AUS vs ENG Team Previews

Australia

The injuries have continued to increase for Australia as Usman Khawaja and Marcus Stoinis join the injured list alongside Shaun Marsh. Matthew Wade, Mitchell Marsh, Peter Handscomb have joined the squad for the remained of Australia’s World Cup campaign.

Usman Khawaja has a hamstring issue and is certain to not play any further part in the tournament. That is a big blow to Australia since Khawaja was the player that was able to bat in a controlled manner as the others attacked around him.

That responsibility is now likely to fall on Steve Smith, who has not been at his best in the ICC World Cup 2019 so far.

Marcus Stoinis bowled just three overs in the previous match and Australia is not going to risk him unless he is fully fit. Expect Mitchell Marsh to play instead of him for the semi-final.

Khawaja’s replacement should be Peter Handscomb going purely by the roles they play in the team but Matthew Wade has been in superb form and could be brought in to increase the hitting power available to Australia.

David Warner and Aaron Finch are going to have more responsibility on their heads thanks to all these injuries now. Warner has 638 runs to his name while Finch has 507. The third best is Alex Carey with 329 runs, a big drop-off.

Australia is very vulnerable is it loses its openers cheaply and that is what it must guard against.

The bowling for Australia is in good form. Mitchell Starc is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament by a long distance. He has 26 wickets to his name, nine more than the next on the list, and has been particularly effective against the lower order.

Starc was unable to pick up wickets against South Africa early on and that allowed them to get away. He led Australia to win in the semi-final and the final in 2015 and will be hoping for a repeat this time around.

Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins, Jason Behrendorff, and a combination of Maxwell-Marsh for the fifth bowler should provide Australia with a lot of ammunition to come hard at England.

Australia Playing 11

David Warner, Aaron Finch, Steven Smith, Peter Handscomb, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Jason Behrendorff, Nathan Michael Lyon.

England

After fumbling its way through the group stages, England has finally managed to make it to the semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2019. Now, it stands just two good matches away from re-writing cricket history.

No England side has ever won the cricket world cup although and it is after 1992 that any England side has managed to reach the semi-final.

England has a very good record at Edgbaston and we think they would be glad to be playing this match at the venue. The pitch should be flat and allow the English batsmen to play freely and the boundaries are also big enough to give their power hitters an advantage.

England was the top-ranked team coming into the tournament and has been very good in the ICC World Cup 2019 on its good days. On its bad days, England has been terrible and that is what it has to avoid.

Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Eoin Morgan, and Jos Buttler. This is a top-7 that is power packed and in good form. Like the Australian side, the English openers are also going to be very important in setting the tone for their side.

If Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow can get away to one of their hallmark fliers then England is going to be tough to stop. They must show the Australia new ball bowlers the required respect and then they can cash in down the line.

England’s batting is stronger than that of Australia’s with more depth and power at its disposal.

Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, Chris Woakes, and Liam Plunkett are almost sure to be in the playing eleven for England. Archer and Wood have 18 and 17 wickets to their name respectively. Both of them will end up with more wickets than any other England bowler in a previous World Cup campaign.

England needs to decide whether to continue picking Adil Rashid or maybe switch to Moeen Ali. Neither of the two spinners has had a good world cup although Moeen offers more hope with the bat.

England has all the tools it needs to win. It knows that and the world knows that. The only question mark is going to be about its mental strength. The ghosts of losing the semi-final to Pakistan in the Champions Trophy is going to be rearing its head as will the loss against Australia in the group stages. England needs to focus on its recent dominance over Australia and go into the match with a positive mindset.

England Playing 11

JJ Roy, Jonny Bairstow, JE Root, Eoin Morgan, BA Stokes, Jos Buttler, CR Woakes, LE Plunkett, Jofra Chioke Archer, AU Rashid, M Wood.

AUS vs ENG Toss Prediction

This may be a good toss to lose. The previous record suggests that batting first is the right way but the overhead conditions may favor bowling. We think batting first in a pressure situation might be preferable to the captain that wins the toss.

Read our guide on toss predictions to learn how we analyze and come up with our tips.

Pitch and Conditions

Australia vs England semi-final ICC World Cup 2019 is going to be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham. There is a fair bit of rain predicted in Birmingham on match day. That means we could see some swinging conditions and a lower scoring match than expected.

Rain interruptions are expected during the match although the hope is that we should be able to get a full 50 over match in.

The pitch at Birmingham has been good for batting before slowing up later on in the game. The same kind of surface, perhaps, one that is better for batting than in previous matches is expected.

AUS vs ENG Dream11 Prediction

The Dream 11 Team for Australia vs England semi-final ICC World Cup 2019 is going to be based around the fact that Edgbaston, Birmingham is going to provide an excellent batting surface for the contest and a full 50 over match will be played. There is a threat of rain around which could play spoilsport so you may want to factor that into your calculations.

We will be updating the Dream11 team on twitter (@cricketbettings) after the pitch report and toss in case there are any selection surprises. You can also watch a video walkthrough of this team selection on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wk_jz1IATmM&feature=youtu.be.

Wicketkeeper: Alex Carey and Jos Buttler are the two real options from this category although peter Handscomb could also be in the playing eleven. Jos Buttler is very dangerous but he has been out of touch in recent matches and is batting a bit too low to make consistent big scores. Alex Carey, on the other hand, is the third-highest run-scorer for Australia and in supreme touch. Picking him is an easy choice.

Batsmen: There are too many good choices in this category to include and a few tough decisions have to be made. We have included David Warner, Joe Root, Steve Smith, and Jason Roy for our Dream11 team England vs Australia semi-final.

Warner is the second-highest run-getter in the tournament and in excellent touch. His more restrained game is allowing him to play consistently and he absolutely loves the big occasions as well. Joe Root is similar in this regard. He has 500 runs to his name, bats at 3, and is very consistent in ODI cricket.

Not picking Finch and Bairstow was a tough decision but if it pays off then it will allow our Dream11 team to jump over a number of other common combinations.

We have taken a bit of risk by including both Smith and Roy in the side. Smith is not in good form but is going to batting at number 3, his preferred position while Roy is ultra-aggressive and prone to failing.

All-rounders: Ben Stokes and Glenn Maxwell are the only two real choices in this category. Stokes is a leading player for England in both the batting and bowling disciplines. He is our pick to have the biggest impact on the match. Glenn Maxwell has been frustrating to watch. He seems to find new ways to get himself out. He will, however, bowl most of his overs and be expected to attack during the end overs. If he comes off then he could be a big boon to the team.

Bowlers: Mitchell Starc had a poor game against South Africa but he has to be in every single Dream11 team for Australia vs England semi-final. He has 26 wickets and is a threat whenever he has the ball in the hand. We have picked Liam Plunkett, Jason Behrnedorff, and Nathan Lyon as our other three bowlers thanks to their wicket-taking ability and good form.

Captain and Vice-Captain: Ben Stokes is the captain and David Warner is the vice-captain for this match.

AUS vs ENG Betting Tips

England has won 12 out of the last 15 matches against Australia. It is also in excellent form having won two knockout matches against the other two semi-finalists. Australia is going to have to adapt to injuries at a crucial juncture and that is always an unknown. The advantage of playing in Birmingham also gives England the edge.

My feeling is , donot have much saying after watching India’s game today. How the top most team can not see the reason after Guptils dismissal up to 15-20 overs Williamson was going mostly for 1 n dots . Surprisingly after Rohit rahuls dismissal he could not see the point behind this logic.
