chapter 8 – The Disease 

“Hello?” Trunks poked his head into Verah’s bedroom 
“Are you awake?” 
Trunks walked into the room and found Verah asleep in a chair with the medical book open in her lap. He picked up the book, there where some highlighted parts. 

“Hmmmm… Difoturkus, Trikus, Gripoterme… hey these are all types of heart diseases- Trunks had a flash back of when Verah’s heart stopped – a chill went up his back –could she…? No it couldn't be… could it?” He thumbed through the book and looked at all the highlights. 
“Oh my gosh maybe she does! What’s this one… the one with a star… Padadockatiecitum (try saying that 5 times fast!) lets see… it is a disease that attacks the heart and will cause it to stop at any given moment- can be fatal – symptoms - heart problems, gasping for breath, excessive shaking and coldness- cure- a new heart from a person of the same race –(example if a German had this disease only a German heart could replace the old heart)” Trunks read the entire section about the disease. 
“Well she hasn't had any excessive shaking and coldness… maybe it was just something from her wounds. Trunks thought 
He placed Verah in her bed, he stared at her for a while then left the room. 

A month passed and Verah got better little by little 
But one day that April the unthinkable happened 
(! Author’s note-in the next paragraph Verah and Trunks are training not trying to kill each other!) 
“Criycinka!” Verah let out a giant blast headed towards Trunks 
“Blaster cannon!” Trunks let out a beam headed at Verah’s 
Obviously Trunk’s beam neutralized Verah’s beam, it smacked her and she slammed in to a cliff, the cliff gave way and collapsed on top of her 

“Verah!” Trunks cried as he ran over to the pile of rocks 
He stopped when he saw a red light shoot out from the rocks, Verah stood up, a bright red glow surrounded her 
In a flash it was gone and Verah fell to the ground, Trunks ran over to her, she was shaking. Trunks picked her up, 
“Trunks… I’m sss…ssso…cold” she stammered 
“Oh no…” Trunks flew as fast as he could back to capsule corp. Verah was still shaking when he got there. He ran into the house and put Verah on the couch, Bulma came into the room 

“Oh my gosh what happened to Verah!” she shouted 
“I can tell you in a minute, where is that medical book Chichi gave Verah?” 
“It’s in Verah’s room, why do you need it?”Trunks didn’t anwser he was to busy looking through the book looking for something 
“Here! I found it!” Trunks shouted 
“Padadockatiecitum, oh God no” 
“What is that?” (Waaa? Even Bulma doesn't know what it is!) 
“It is a heart disease… and in Verah’s case it can’t be…it can’t be cured” 
“What? Why not?” 
“Because she needs a new heart from the person of the same race… she is a half sajin and the sajin race has been wiped out… there is no way for her to get a new heart” Trunks was at the point of crying 
“Oh no” Bulma sighed 
“Wait! I have an idea, this may sound stupid but how long would you say Verah has to live?” 
Bulma was kneeling next to Verah listing to heart she, was now gasping for breath 
I don’t know for sure… but… I would say 5 days, her heart rate and pulse are pretty slow 
Trunks ran into his mother’s office and grabbed the dragon ball radar 
I’ll be back in 4 days, keep her alive until then!
 Trunks shouted to Bulma "Ok"
