This is the first part of a
series which continues on with the storyline from Past's Present. So
here we go. As usual I would love feed back. The candle burned lightly in the dark room. It cast shadows around the spacious apartment. Some hitting Cordelias face, these enhanced her own beauty, a beauty she new was there but had forgotten about since leaving Sunnydale. The other set of shadows were determined to hit Zacks face. The succeeded in covering parts of his face while the candlelight illuminated his face and made clear that he was going to be very handsome. Zack had lived with his father Wesley now for a year and a half. In this year he had changed his appearance. His hair had been short and filthy when he had first met Wesley, now it was clean and mid length. It curled uncontrollably. It suited him. In the year and a half he had been here his Scottish accent had faded considerably but it was still there. 9 months ago Cordelia escaped a rape and Zack had been kidnapped. Since then life had calmed down considerably. In those nine months Zack and Cordelia had become close friends. Both bonded on a level of loneliness that was painful at times. Tonight they had drank 2 bottles of wine. Zack wasnt of age but it didnt really matter to Cordelia, she had insisted and now they were both reasonably merry. Zack felt butterflies as his face became serious. Cordy? He asked in a whisper. Giggling she turned her head and looked into his eyes. Feeling oddly sad for Zack she stopped giggling. She felt that he was going to tell her something very important. Yes? She asked. I have something I need to tell you. Something that is really important to me. And I need to tell someone . He paused feeling a tear roll down his cheek. A wave of relief and fear rushed over him. He was going to say it. Im .well . Im g.. Cordelia screamed and fell to the floor clasping her head. She convulsed lightly. Images raced through her head. None made sense. Images of Xander, Willow and a white light filled her mind. Then pain shot through her stomach. The images faded out and she saw Zack looking at her worried. As she got up Zack looked at her. What was it? Zack asked his voice genuinely worried. I think I think I just saw my own death. She said as a stray tear rolled down her cheek. © 2000 Moloch |
