Rock-Band kills pop-music...new sound tops charts

by Dino Scatena

The Daily Telegraph, 10th February 2003
Dark rockers Julie Hamilton have pushed past the sea of pop-stars and teeny-bopper bands in what can only be described as musical history.

After only four weeks in the charts, the bands first single "Fallen Angels" has landed on number one, leaving Brittney Spears on number two after 7 weeks on the top spot.

The song has been described by some as dark-glam, while others have dubbed it as "neo-acid-rock". Adding fuel to the fire of their success is the quality of their high-energy live performances, which one fan has described as "an unstoppable force"

Such high praise only makes vocalist Angel Sorion more critical of himself. "I definately need to diversify my singing styles...I'd like to be around for a little longer than the one-hit bands" he humbly commented. But this only hints that Julie Hamilton have yet to reach their full potential.

"It's good to know that kids are starting to get back into rock. I'd always felt that pop-music was only a passing phase of musical trends. It's disposable, shallow music, whereas rocknroll is immortal. it takes us back to our most primal instincts. It's been around since caveman times. I don't think rock will die, despite what anyone says."

And the charts agree.

Julie Hamilton is currently on tour. Their self-titled album is out now through Jinx Records
