| JULIE HAMILTON: A fresh, dark sound By Brian Connor The Macarthur Advertiser, 12th December 2002 |
| "All the power in the world resides in the eyes" explains Julie Hamilton vocalist Angel Sorion when asked about his eyeliner. "It's my way of saying 'look into my eyes and know that I don't give a f**k'" Such is the boldness of Julie Hamilton's brand of rock-music. The 5-man band from Campbelltown are known for playing in local bars, school fetes and even in garages. "We've always been making hard, dark rock music with pop-undertones" tells bassist Kelsey Vandalay. "But we never saw the need to sign into any record label...until now" Despite pleas from colleagues such as Daniel Johns, Ella Hooper and Chris Cheney to make a record, Julie Hamilton were always content with playing in small clubs and private parties. But a demand for an album by fans was so great, the band decided to save some money to make one. "Angel is putting the finishing touches on the record" says guitarist David Dexter. "He's producing as well as singing, and the stuff he's doing to our music with those machines is unreal. He's a very focused and learned musiscian, definately ahead of his time." When asked how to describe the upcoming album, Angel Sorion replies casually "It's rocknroll for the tomorrow. The future is here." Julie Hamilton's self-titled album is out next month. |
